Having got hold of the likes of Gamba Osaka, Nagoya Grampus and Cerezo Osaka, Kashima Antlers manager Oswaldo Oliveira has expressed desire of winning the J-League Cup on Saturday.
Antlers will lock heads with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Urawa-Red-Diamonds-c40835 on Saturday, October 29, at Tokyo National Stadium.
Kashima Antlers defeated Yokohama F. Marinos in the quarterfinals by a 3-2 margin. Diamonds, on the other hand, got better of Cerezo Osaka by a 2-1 margin.
In the semifinals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gamba-Osaka-c39399 were outgunned by Urawa Reds by the same 2-1 margin.
Oliveira told that his team are geared up for the big final and will prove to be no easy opponents for the Japanese powerhouse. He also wished to lift the J-League Cup on Saturday for the first time in his managerial career.
The Brazilian tactician has already led his side to three J-League Division 1 titles, one Emperor Cup and one Japanese Super Cup crown since taking over at Kashima Soccer Stadium in 2007.
The manager has already termed Saturday’s game as the ‘biggest’ in his managerial career. He urged his players to stay focussed and remain positive throughout the 90 minutes in front of a jam packed stadium.
While talking to reporters after a practice session on Thursday, the former Al-Ahli tactician enthused, "Managers are judged on winning. Therefore the best thing to do is to concentrate on winning as many titles as possible. The J-League Cup is the only
domestic championship I've yet to win, so it's very special to me."
When asked about the secret behind a closed practice session, Oswaldo added, "If we open practice, a lot of our strategy will be revealed. Having closed practices like this is nothing special. The [Urawa Reds] players are all very talented individually,
but we're prepared to deal with them."
The manager warned his team against any complacency and also agreed to underdogs tag, attached with his team for Saturday’s decider.
