Otago sign English players http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Nash-c1247 and Darren Stevens for its domestic T20 campaign
Otago has contracted Sussex batsman Chris Nash and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789 skipper Dimitri Mascarenhas due to a long-term Achilles injury that will keep him away from the game till Christmas. In the mean time, the T20 tournament is all set to kick-start in December this year.
The Otago Volts is a first class cricket team from New Zealand that represents the Otago Cricket Association, one of the six main associations that constitute New Zealand Cricket.

Both Nash and Stevens have been impressive in their Friends Provident T20 campaigns in England. All-rounder Darren Stevens excelled with both bat and ball, logging 369 runs at a remarkable average of 41 and an impressive strike-rate of 150. On the bowling side, the seamer claimed 12 wickets at an average of over 23. Chris Nash on the other hand took 13 wickets with his orthodox off-spin at an average of 17.39. Nash has compiled 299 runs at an average of round 25 and a strike rate of over 128.
Stevens made his first appearance for his home county Leicestershire in 1997 at the age of 21. He scored his first century two years later while playing against Sussex, scoring a fantastic 130. His maiden century earned him a seal of approval from Colin Cowdrey. Steven, however, remained on the fringes of the side with Ben Smith and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Later on, he was included in the 30-man preliminary squad for the Cricket World Cup 2003.
After two average seasons, Stevens was released by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807. In the 2005 season, the all-rounder joined Kent Spitfires for the 2005 season. He made a tremendous start to his career at Kent, logging 1,000 plus runs in one calendar season for the first time in his career. The next season, however, did not prove to as good, though he still averaged 39. Despite a disappointing individual season, Stevens’ performances in the Pro40 League took Kent to the verge of promotion.
His best first-class innings was a brilliant 208 runs which he scored for Kent while playing against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 in 2006. In 2005, Darren Stevens won Kent's Player of the Year award.
In 2007, Stevens helped Kent win the T20 Cup with his unbeaten 30 against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 Gladiators at Edgbaston.
Christopher David "Chris" Nash is a prolific batsman who currently opens for Sussex but he started his career as an off-spinner and batted lower in the order.
Nash was part of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 at Old Trafford. Nash also represents Horsham CC and is a great admirer of the club.
Last year, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yasir-Arafat-c98241 was Otago's overseas player. In this season, the team management opted not to retain him as they wanted a different skill set. A month long T20 tournament will begin on the 2nd of December, 2010 and end on 2nd January, 2011.
