Impressive performances from the middle and lower order saw the Otago Volts posting a solid first innings total of 427 before they were all out – however, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Central-Districts-c777 Stags’ openers set up a century stand to get their team off to a steady start
during their first innings, finishing at 115 for 1 by stumps on the second day of their ongoing Plunket Shield match, played at the University Oval in Dunedin, today on December 18.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Neil-Broom-c2090 (14) were all sent packing,
but things appeared fairly promising for Otago as they finished day one at 181 for 4, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RN-ten-Doeschate-c2338 (88*) and skipper SR Wells (7*) at the crease.
Day two saw both ten Doeschate (118) and Wells (63) building on their individual scores, as their partnership grew to 67 runs for the 5th wicket. By the time ten Doeschate was run out by Jeet Raval, the team total had swelled to 241.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iain-Anthony-Robertson-c63723 (17) and Wells were soon sent back to the pavilion, the former trapped lbw by AY Patel (28.3-6-86-4) and the latter bowled by Trego (25-3-56-2), after their 34-run partnership for the 6th wicket. However, Mark Craig (63) and Neil
Wagner (68) both got the team’s innings back on track following the flurry of wickets, and their 119-run partnership for the 8th wicket got the team past the 400-run mark.
Craig was eventually dismissed by Lamb (19-1-72-2), while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IG-Butler-c1575 (2) fell prey to Bevan Small, and Wagner made his exit off Patel. The Volts were eventually bowled for a sizeable first innings total of 427.
The Stags, however, kicked their first innings off in promising fashion, and openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-How-c1707 (52*) got the team off to a solid start, with a partnership worth 107 runs. Wagner broke it up in the 37th over, with the
dismissal of Raval, but How managed to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Carl-Cachopa-c49207 (8*) as the Stags finished at 115 for 1 by stumps on day two.
