Other alternatives to using reverse pull headgear to fix an underbite for 10 year old girl. I'm ok w/ braces.

My daughter is 10 and we have been told she needs to wear braces for approx., 30m. and also a reverse pull headgear to fix her underbite. Doc says her upper jaw is not growing as fast as her lowere jaw. Also, how do orthos' come up w/ the fee they come up with.

well thats no good but it doesnt get better.... headgear is the easiest way to fix an underbite the only other option is surgery which works good and all but costs abit more but works quicker and yer the reasosn are obvious the main one headgear you have to wear and sleep in and stuff with jaw surgery its a week in straps then a couple of appointments and just a bit of pain&swelling.... but just go for the headgear :>

orthodontist come up with their fees from the start charge which includes the sterilisation of equipment used as this is expensive, the rent of the office (surgery), fees of the others who work there...assistants, admin,accounts etc, machines like the xray, all the drills, basic machinery (next to you on the chair) stuff that is at the orthodontist basically then you havw to pay a fee to see them, electricity, water, as you can see the list goes on....then comes all the materials and appliances like the plaster for moulds, brackets, elastics, wires, plastic for retainers, headgear, everything else like that also :>

my sister is an orthdontist so i no all of this :> she barely makes any profit as she is still paying off that huge university degree fee...along with herself all the other trained professionals at the surgery, all need regular training so they are working in the best and most modern ways of orthodontistry... so as you can see it really isnt one of the best situations of work because you always owe money to people and only get a little portion to yourself.... so if you ran the surgery for a week you would ask yourself why dont they charge me more ;>
