Question:

Other "barefoot" cruises?

I was looking for a totally casual cruise (one that does not have a dress code). I heard about Windjammer but I also heard that they are going under and may not even be around when I want to take my cruise (January).

Is Windjammer really going under? If so, are there other cruise lines with a similar theme? My idea of a vacation is falling asleep in a chair, on the deck, waking up and going right to the bar to get a drink without having to worry about what I'm wearing.

Thanks.

  1. What a bummer about Windjammer -- I had no idea they might be going under.  I hope not.  We went on our honeymoon on one of these cruises and it is exactly what you are looking for from what you described.  Sorry I can't give you any more input about other similar cruise lines.  I'm just so bummed that they might not be around for our 10th anniversary!

  2. There is a cruise line that has whats called "freestyle cruises" thats supposed to be totally relaxed, not only in dress and atire but schedules as well. I think its the "Norwegean Cruise Line" but a google search should produce results. I've been on that line prior to the freestyle campaign and enjoyed it very much.

  3. Norwegian may be just what you are looking for.  Norwegian (NCL) has a very casual dress code ...

How should I dress for dinner?

Freestyle Cruising gives you the freedom to dress as you please – morning, noon and night.

Casual attire is perfect for all restaurants during the day -- Khakis, skirts, jeans, casual tops, shorts or whatever. Swimwear with a cover-up is fine at the buffet and outdoor restaurant.

For dinner, collared shirts and pants or nice jeans work for guys. Slacks or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops are perfect for women. But if you want to dress up and add a little glamour when you dine out, that’s OK too – we’ve reserved one restaurant each night just for that.

For kids 12 and under, nice shorts are appropriate in all restaurants at all times.
