  1. Hello friend

If doctor advises angioplasty, then there is no alternative to it.

However after your surgery,  you can take  required precautions to ensure that your heart stays in good shape.

You have to change your lifestyle..Take a short walk or any other exercise advised by your doctor.  Simplify your diet.

After the surgery yoga can help you

Regular practice of alom vilom itself can prevent any recurrence of heart disease. After your surgery  you should take complete rest till your doctor permits you to do pranayama or yoga asanas. Initially concentrate on pranayama and  shava asana. As and when you feel better you can start yoga asanas too. Do not strain yourself.

I feel what you need is

Relaxation in life, here is a link to article on relaxation  http://ezinearticles.com/?Yoga-For-Relax...

You have to change your lifestyle.

Change your dietary habits and reduce your weight

Regular exercise preferably yoga asana, pranayama

    Regular meditation

Adopt yoga as a way of life

(Do not hold breath during pranayama or yoga asanas)

Once your doctor permits for pranayama and yoga asanas, you can do the following

Shava asana.  Though shava asana looks simple, but it can provide you immnese benefits in relaxing the body.  During the  day whenever you feel tired lie down in shavasana for 5 to 10 minutes.

Pranayama Rhythmic breathng.  This is easiest yoga breathing exercise. It is just taking deep breaths so that your breathing becoems rhythmic and you will feel relaxed. Give equal time for inhalation and exhalation,  do not hold breath.  Do it for 5 to 10 minutes.

Alom Vilom.  For two or three months, do alom vilom only for 5 minutes initially. Start regular practice of alom vilom and yoga and slowly over a period of 5-6 months increase the duration of this pranayama. 15 to 30 minutes  of alom vilom can be ideal for your heart.

Anytime you feel uncomfortable, relax, lie in shavasana and do normal breathing.  Initially start with very little exercise and radually increase duration.

It  is advisable that you start pranayama and asana under supervision of a yoga teacher/ yoga expert.

(Shavasana and rhythmic breathing are otherwise quite safe bet. You can do shavasana for 20 to 30 minutes daily if you have spare time)

  2. Angioplasty is for heart problem, but not for diabetics.

diabetics is tested by testing either glucose tolerance test or Pre and post fasting blood and urine.

Glucose tolerance test is most accurate

  3. An Angiogram is done to determine the amount of blockage in your arteries leading to your heart.  So, you obviously have some serious amount of blockage if the doctors want to do an angioplasty, a procedure done to open the blocked arteries.  There is no other alternative to this procedure.  This, along with diabetes,  is the result of having a lifetime of poor eating and exercising habits.  You can still change your lifestyle, exercise and eating habits, because this problem CAN and does reoccur unless you make these changes.  Also, if you do not change your habits, you can actually have a coronary bypass, which, of course, is lots worse than an angioplasty.

Because you are on some serious medicines right now, do not do anything herbal because it might interefere with the meds that you are on.

As for changing your lifestyle habits, what you have been doing obviously didn't work, so you need to find something else.  If you had a diet but didn't follow it, then begin now.  Your best bet is to avoid all dairy products as this contributes greatly to clogged arteries.  Cut out all sugars.  Begin to walk at least 15 minutes daily.  After a month, increase it to 20 minutes daily.  After another month, increase it to 45 minutes.  Get a massage every 2 weeks to help with aches and pains and circulation.  Take a very good multi-vitamin supplement.  Avoid any carbonated beverages as these destroy your bones.  Get a monthly Reiki treatment or EFT to help you deal with the emotional issues that got you here in the first place.

    Find JOY in your life.

  4. If angio has been advised then this IS the alternative.  You have either angioplasty or you don't have angioplasty and take your chances.  If you control the diabetes then the cholesterol abnormalities due to the disease will be controlled and you may prevent future angios.  Bottom line.

  5. you can use the glyserides (nitroglyseride) but they become less effective with time, as the occlusion become more and more, beside it is said that angioplasty have better prognosis for the long run.

do the surgery as it reliefe symptoms, improve prognosis, and it have rare operation risk (less than 1%).
