Other than Princess street, where do people hang out in Edinburgh?

go to the Nicholson cafe..now called Buffet King (it's now a CHinese buffet)..and you can see where J. K. Rowling write her first Harry Potter book..there is a plaque describing it..and lots of people go there and sit in the booth..and take pix...and imagine they were her!  Fascinating!!!

Only people that hang out on Princess streets are noisy annoying kids, pipers and tourists.

Medium length street with primarily gardens on one side and shops on the other... mostly the big chains and an ever rising array of what is now colloquially called "tartan tat". Nothing really to hang out and see.
