The person who said all fish require a filter is talking a load of c**p. Bettas produce a very small amount of waste so as long as you change their water they are just fine. You can keep a guppy in a bowl without a filter, but you will have to buy a cheap heater. Like the ones for hermit crabs http://www.petco.com/product/102429/Hydo... Comet goldfish can be kept in bowls without a filter too. They do great just like bettas in a large vase. Good Luck!

If you don't have a Filter, that will work but you will have to change water and do other maintenance stuff.

I have seen bettas live for more than an year or two without Filteration system (it was in my office) and just water changes and adding the bacteria that comes in a bottle.

Feed as needed (no extra food) and change 10% water with conditioned water. Should work fine and if you have a Air stone, its much better.

just because they don't reauire it doesn't mean it shouldn't be provided.. you don't need to be fed every day yet it's inhumane do do otherwise..

please get a filter for all of your fish

same applies to an aquarium

a 5gallon plus tank will not only make the fish's life better, but will be easier and less work for you too...

All fish require a filtration system...the store employees will tell you anything to get you to buy their products. I always look at it this way...if I were a fish, I wouldn't want to be swimming in a small bowl or 1 gallon tank without a filtration system. Filtration eliminates the waste that fish produce( p**p & pee).....humans use toilets...fish use filtration.

not really no... There are paradise fish but they need at least 3 gallons of water. I have kept them in smaller but they do well with 3 gallons or more...

Any other fish then a betta though really requires a filter

well fish don't NEED a filter, just it's better to have one if you have an aquarium so you don't have to clean it often. And well, no, no other than the betta but it's ok to keep a couple of fish in a non-aquarium, there no harm in doing that.

Bettas are the only fish that dont require filtration - and truth be told, they prefer it as well. Just because they can breathe in p**p water, doesn't mean they should have to....
