Other than weather.com, where else can I find weather info at a ski resort?

I'm going skiing on 3/15 however I need to pay by this Sunday. As of now it says 60% chance of rain on weather.com.

How accurate are they?

I am heading to Jack Frost in Pennsylvania.

  1. You might also try your state DOT for highway reports. In Washington they give an update every few hours on road conditions and a 10 day forecast.

  2. The Boy Scout camp located across the creek from Jack Frost uses the same webpage (for the most part) to monitor the weather during the summer. (I used to work there.) It's pretty accurate.

Likewise I was hiking today. Weather.com said it would start raining where I was hiking between 3pm and 4pm...it started at 3:10. It said rain would get heavy between 5:30 and 6:30pm...it did, we closed our ski area at 7pm because no one was out.

Lastly...the local ABC affilliate station based in Scranton has a real-time doppler radar link on it's web page and it's weather predictions for the Pocono region are usually accurate.

I can say without a doubt that the local TV weather stations are paying a bit more attention to the forecasting for March 15 because that day is also the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Scranton. It is the 3rd largest St. Patrick's Day parade in the country and people come to it from hundreds of miles away. If there is one weekend where the local weather is accurate...it is that weekend.

  3. Your best bet is NOAA.gov . I've been to Jack Frost several times, and it ALWAYS rains there. Check Jack Frosts site to see trail conditions

  4. why not try yahoo weather or accue weather and compare
