  1. i think we should buy Usain Bolt!

  2. Yes for the most part.  I think track was pretty much a disappointment, but other than that I think the USA fared well.

  3. Yes, but I am not proud with announcers' attitudes.

  4. I am happy for all the athletes that competed, their 4 years of hard slog and committment are over for a little while now, and they can have a bit of a rest unless of course they have retired then they will have such good memories, as for how the USA did? I couldn't give a "tinkers cuss"

  5. yes, overall I give us a B-, we blew it on softball and baseball, and missed some key freebies in track n field, like the relays? What was that all about...men's and women's? gosh!  Anyways, we did break the century mark in overall medals for like the 100th time in a row, which is good, but anytime you leave doubt as to which country did the best (i.e. not having more golds than the Chinese with 1.3 billion people) is going to leave a sour taste in your mouth.  We did ok, we have alot to improve on for London 2012.

  6. I think the US athletes should be proud of their performance. The world is a very competitive environment now and they have to work harder to remain on top. However, all the US people talking about cheating, and if Jamaicans were doped and stuff, they should really be ashamed to be such sore losers.

China won, plain and simple. You don't like it, prepare you self and do something about it in four years.

  7. Look at the totals - we had more than any other country.  I will not complain about the officiating and scoring because it is so subjective and complainers are often so biased they cannot find fundamental flaws that really skewed the end result.  In some sports, human judging errors like missing a mistake, faul, fault, misjudging when a ball or foot touched or crossed a line, or misjudging the amount of artistic points could have hurt the US, in others, it might have helped them.  Our athletes had upsets, like in women's soccer, records, like the oldest woman to medal in swimming, and dominance like in women's sand volleyball and men's basketball.  And we had all this success even with two male gymnasts dropping out late due to injuries, a murder, and two dropped batons that are infrequent and unfortunately, immediate disqualifiers.

Locally in the Houston area where I live, Laura Wilkinson did not medal, but she has done well previously, the gymnasts that train in the Houston area did well.  The Lopez family took home 3 medals in Taekwondo, Glenn Eller won the gold in shooting, and a man on the US men's volleyball team that won gold is from League City.

A Cuban baseball player was quoted as having rejoiced in beating the US in baseball as the victory was important as a political statement.  I don't really believe that should be significant, but let's look at that argument.  The Cubans won the silver in that sport and the Americans took the bronze, a small victory, but when I look at all other sports, the only other one where the Cubans beat the USA was in boxing, but in everything else it was not even close and taking everything into account, the Americans soundly beat the Cubans winning more medals of any type than the Cubans and beat them overall 110-24.

Let's look at what other countries might try to claim "In Your Face!"

    USA 110

    Russia 72

    North Korea 6

    Iran 2

    Sudan 1

    Venezuela 1

  8. yeah i'm happy with the way our athletes performed. we did really well in gymnastics, basketball, softball, swimming, water polo, volleyball, canoeing etc. people are calling us sore losers, but we haven't complained so idk what they are talking about, i'm really proud of how we did in the olympics.

  9. For the most part we did well.....there were no real break-out americans other than Phelps...but as a whole we did very well....

  10. yessir.. if it wasn't for michael phelps 8 golds usa would been fu*ked lol

  11. yes...respect to all the athletes!

just dont like the overmuch b*tchy media...

  12. On the whole, yes, but certain track and field participants were acting rather foolish, jumping around and dancing  and acting all stupid in front of the camera......

  13. yeah.....but I am disappointed in my home country, South Africa! Stupid government.....!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. michael phelps is a legend!!! i thought you would of won more in the track and field!!! the hammer throwers were expected to win gold silver bronze but they didn't!!! relay teams were unlucky aswell both teams gone in the heat!!! is it true russia won the most in track and field??? and the boxers didn't do well!! only one bronze from such a population when you consider ireland won 2 bronze and a silver entring 5 boxers with a population of 4 million!!!

  15. Very proud that every American athlete gave their best and had the opportunity to compete in the games.  Four years is a difficult and exhausting amount of time for anyone to prepare for their sport, and just the chance to perform on the Olympic stage is an honor.

  16. The US team dominated several sports and the Games would not have been the same without this talented team.

As a sports fan I loved the thrilling women gymnastic showdown between the US and China, the skill and showmanship of the men's basketball team and their fantastic final against Spain, Men's volleyball, 4X 400 meters relay and many more magical moments.

I am proud the US as the great sporting nation that they are, have not let politics spoil their sportsmen dreams.

However I am disappointed with the US media that I once regarded as the best in the world are just a bunch of sour grapes for events not won. The sportsmen should show us how to behave.
