Can I marinate chicken breast in beer? I bought this beer and it's kinda gross to drink but I don't wanna waste it so can I use it to marinate meat with?

  1. I think fish or pork chops taste better marinated in beer than chicken. I just pour it on, maybe sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top, and bake it at 375 for about an hour. It depends how much or what I'm making.


  2. Memphis Beer Can Chicken

    1 whole chicken, about 4 pounds

    1 12 ounce can of beer, room temperature

    For rub:

    1 tablespoon brown sugar

    1 teaspoon paprika

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

    1/4 teaspoon dry mustard

    1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

    Preparation:

    Combine all rub ingredients in a small mixing bowl. Set aside. Remove giblets and the neck from chicken. Sprinkle all over with rub, including cavity. Open can of beer and discard half of it. Make sure to pierce two more holes on the top of beer can. Place chicken on top of can. Preheat grill. Place birds grill balanced by the beer cans. Grill over indirect medium heat for 1 1/2 hours or until internal temperature of thigh is 180 degrees. Remove chicken when finished cooking and let sit (with beer can still intact), for 10 minutes before carving.

    Baked Chicken with Beer

    6 slices bacon, diced

    3 to 3 1/2 pounds chicken pieces, such as leg and thigh quarters

    4 medium onions, thinly sliced

    2 tablespoons flour

    1/2 teaspoon ground marjoram

    1/2 teaspoon black pepper

    1/2 teaspoon leaf thyme

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon sugar

    1 clove garlic, minced

    1 can (12 ounces) beer, room temperature

    2 tablespoons cider vinegar

    Preparation:

    In an oven-safe Dutch oven or large saucepan, fry the bacon until crisp. Remove with slotted spoon to paper towels to drain. Over medium heat, brown chicken pieces in the bacon drippings, turning to brown all sides. Remove to a platter as chicken browns.

    Add onions to the pan and cook until tender, about 4 to 5 minutes. Drain off excess fat. Sprinkle on the flour, marjoram, pepper, thyme, salt, sugar, and garlic. Stir in beer. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in vinegar. Add chicken back to pot. Sprinkle with bacon. If necessary, transfer to a large baking dish. Cover and bake at 350° for 55 to 65 minutes, or until chicken is tender. Serves 6 to 8.

  5. Marinade for carne asada.

    I use ranchera (a.k.a. flap meat) for mine. Comes out great on the grill!

  6. You can roast a whole chicken with it's opening sitting on top of a beer can.  Look for recipes online.

    I also heard it makes your hair shine.

  7. If you like shrimp, use the beer for a very good, spicy shrimp boil.  Use two bottles or two cans of the beer, to this add a onion roughly chopped and plenty of cajun seasoning (about 2Tbls.)

    Allow this mixture to simmer for about 15mins.

    Next add your raw shrimp and cook only until the shrimp turn pink...about 5mins.  Voila'...serve this either on it's own or on top of white rice.

  8. Sure, you can marinate a chicken with it. However, why don't you show a kind heart and just give it to some wino in the street instead? I am certain he/she will be very happy, and your chicken will taste just as good with a non alcoholic marinade.

  9. beer is great to mariante with and you really do not taste the beer flavor.
