I'm writing a a paper for English and I feel that I'm using the word "because" too much. Is there any other ways I can explain something without using "because"? It's probable really obvious but I just can't think right now.

  1. the reason why

  2. "Since" and "for" can be used the instead, although "for" is a coordinating conjunction rather than subordinating like the other two and can therefore be used only between two clauses, not at the beginning of a sentence.  You can also vary the arrangment of your sentences--instead of saying that Macbeth killed Duncan because the witches prophesied that he would be King, you can say that the witches prophesied that Macbeth would be King, with the result that he killed Duncan to fulfill the prophecy.

  3. therefore

    for this reason

    so

    since

    thus

    for

    that

    being

  4. therefore

    since

    for

  5. Use transitional words such as "For example." "Moreover," "Furthermore, and "therefore."
