Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers look to advance in Game 7 -NHL Playoffs Update
Ottawa will have to stop New York from rallying in any point of the game as Senators and Rangers are set to face-off in Game 7 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Playoff Quarterfinal series.
Senators captain, Daniel Alfredsson, will be back on the line-up and playing for Ottawa while New York will be without Brian Boyle, who is out with a concussion.
"We've played well there, there's no question," Daniel Alfredsson said. "I think overall during the year, we've been better on the road than we have at home for whatever reason. But Game 7 is Game 7, and getting off to a good start is important. That will
be our focus."
Rangers will need to physical that helped them in their previous matchup by rallying in the second period to make a comeback and force a Game 7 competition.
New York goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, will also need to be in solid form in front of the Rangers net and block the opposition from going into overtime.
"Mentally, you just try to block everything you can't control. Just control your emotion and focus on the right things," said Lundqvist. "So far, home advantage hasn't really played out that well for anybody, but hopefully our crowd can be the difference
and help us push our game here and get some confidence right away.
There have been a number of upsets in the playoffs so far with Washington Capitals eliminating Stanley Cup defending champions, Boston Bruins, right in the opening round. New York will have to play extra hard being the top seed of the East.
New York’s superstar forward, Brad Richards, has more than enough experience playing in Game 7’s and utilising it for Rangers should be his top priority as the former Dallas Stars’ player has not shown much potential in the series thus far.
Ottawa is thirsty for a Stanley Cup and knowing that basically all Canadian fans are supporting them at the moment is definitely something that will come out in their game.
Game 7 between Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers is scheduled for Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Madison Square Garden at 7:00 PM ET.
