Ottawa Senators' Daniel Alfredsson still at odds whether to play or not -NHL offseason Update
Daniel Alfredsson is a gem of a player and losing him would definitely setback the Ottawa Senators in a major way but call it a good sign or whatever, the veteran superstar is still confused on whether he should be playing next National Hockey League (NHL)
regular season or just call it quits now.
He was at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the annual NHL awards and was not able to give any clear answer to the question about his availability of the upcoming hockey year.
"I don't know," Alfredsson said Tuesday, June 19, 2012. “I do [think about returning] some mornings and some mornings I'm stiff and it would be nice to just take it easy. I can't say I'm leaning one way or another right now.”
At the moment, Alfredsson has not been practicing and training at the moment but still there is a ray of hope for the Senators team and his fans since he has not given a clear cut negative answer up until now.
"I think once you do call it quits, that's it," Alfredsson said. "You go through my career, I probably have felt numerous times that I am done -- I haven't played well, the team is struggling and this is it. Then you go on and something good happens and
this is the best thing in the world.”
At the age of 39, Daniel Alfredsson continues to set new standards in the game of hockey. He was drafted as the 133rd overall player during round-six of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by Ottawa Senators. He has 1,131 games under his belt along with
1,082 points (416 goals, 666 assists).
With a remarkable 59 point (27 goals, 32 assists) season and 75 games played, Daniel Alfredsson is certainly capable of playing and leading the Ottawa Senators towards further greatness.
His performance and comeback last season was a major reason for their making the playoffs. With the NHL draft coming up and free agency in the pipeline, Ottawa Senators are working towards securing the top talent available and having Daniel Alfredsson on
the line-up will be crucial to their Stanley Cup run.
