Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers aim to take lead in Game 3 -NHL Playoffs Preview
The Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Eastern Conference playoff quarterfinal series continues to intensify as both teams will be looking to take the lead when they meet in game-three of round-one in Ottawa, Ontario,
Canada, on Monday, April 16, 2012.
Game-two was certainly one to see as a number of players went out after some intense fights and some very unfortunate cheap shops that had both teams losing members.
New York’s Carl Hagelin was handed down a three-game suspension notice after he elbowed Ottawa captain, Daniel Alfredsson, in the head which may result in a possible concussion and forcing him to miss the next game.
"After Alfredsson chips the puck up the boards, Hagelin continues on his path and finishes his check with his arms high, recklessly striking Alfredsson in the side of head with his elbow," league disciplinarian, Brendan Shanahan, said in his video.
Three games without Hagelin will definitely be a disadvantage for New York and might just force them to recall Chris Kreider from the minor leagues and allow him to play in his first NHL game, that too in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Ottawa also lost a player, Matt Carkner, for the next game as he continued to punish Rangers forward, Brian Boyle, despite the player being declared unable to defend after going down during a fight between the two.
Now heading up North might seem like a daunting task for New York. Leaving their home crowd and going up against impatient Canadian fans just might take a toll on their performance but New York head coach, John Tortorella, is confident that his team will
pull through.
"Not a chance," Tortorella said. "We are who we are. I've said it all along, I like the hockey club. I like the way we handled ourselves (Saturday) night. We didn't get it done, but we're not changing. I'll tell you right now, we're not adjusting. We're
going to go play."
Rangers and Senators will be going head-to-head for game-three on Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, at 7:30 PM ET.
