Ottawa Senators fearful while Jason Spezza preaches peace -NHL Update
Ottawa and their fans have had enough of the Senators not being able to make the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs despite have an All-Star line-up, especially since they failed to make any significant change after a long ASG break which was expected
to boost their performance.
While the team is fearful of being ousted if they cannot improve in the upcoming games, Senators’ forward, Jason Spezza, is urging his team to stay calm and work with their mind rather than their hearts if they hope of making the postseason this time around.
Currently, Ottawa Senators are on a six-game losing streak, which began long before the All-Star Game Weekend and has unfortunately, continued into the second half of the 2011-2012 NHL regular season.
They are currently sitting at number seven in the Eastern Conference, which is a playoff position, but as team below them continue winning and eye the soon-to-be vacant spot, Ottawa can do nothing but feel the heat.
Toronto Maple Leafs are underneath them at the final playoff spot and are below by only a single point, making the upcoming games crucial in the sense of teams fighting for positioning.
Jason Spezza might be the only one relaxed on the team and with his performance this season, he certainly has a right to.
“We’ve got to take a deep breath and just relax,” Senators’ veteran centre player, Jason Spezza, suggested.  He later added, “You have to look at the season as a whole. We’re happy to be in this position and now we’ve got some important games down the stretch.”
Spezza is a dream come true for Ottawa as the player ranks 14th in the major league with 50 points (20 goals, 30 assists) in 55 games played. His performance has been a crucial factor in Ottawa playing confidently and having won the games they
have so far in the season.
Sitting in the seventh number position for a playoff spot would be good enough for Ottawa at this point but moving ahead is something on their mind as this year so far has been a milestone for a team that was sitting at the lower part of the league last
time.
