Ottawa Senators looking for a miracle against New York Rangers -NHL Playoffs Game 4 Preview
Without Daniel Alfredsson on the line-up, Ottawa Senators are definitely looking for a miracle player to come forward and save the team from being put on the brink of elimination as they face New York Rangers in game 4 of the 2012 National Hockey League
(NHL) Eastern Conference playoff quarterfinals.
New York is currently leading the series 2-1 and could have a heavy had on Ottawa, a team which is without their captain, but as the next game is on Senators home-ice, they hope having the crowd on their side could make the difference.
On the positive side, Ottawa will be getting back defenseman, Matt Carkner, who was handed down a one-game suspension due to his hit on New York’s Brian Boyle in game 2. Having him back for game 4 will certainly help them in the defensive department.
"I think we played a pretty solid game," Carkner said. "We were physical. We got to the net. Right now, it's just trying to figure out Lundqvist. He had a great game against us. We just have to figure out how to get him moving and maybe take advantage of
that. I thought the guys played great."
Rangers’ veteran goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, has been solid in the net for New York and breaking through him has been immensely difficult for Ottawa thus far. Senators need to break down Lundqvist if they have any hopes of making it to game 6.
Senators still have players like Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson on the line-up ready to go and taking a more aggressive stance offensively should be expected from their side.
"All year, we've gone against the other team's top defensive pairing and checking line. It's not something that's out of the ordinary, to see the same guys over and over. If anything, it gives me time to adjust and change a few things in how we're going
to attack the zone," Ottawa’s Jason Spezza said.
Game 4 of the quarterfinal series between New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators is scheduled to take place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on Wednesday night, April 18, at 7:30 PM ET.
