Ottawa Senators play host to the Florida Panthersas Senators look to win the third game in a row here against Panthers
The second game of Wednesday will be hosted by the Ottawa Senators at the Scotiabank Place as they face the Florida Panthers.
The interesting fact ahead of this game is that the Senators have won the last two games that have taken place over here.
Senators won the only meeting 5-3 that was played during the season on the 28th of October 2010.
Accompanied with this is another piece of history that the Senators have been facing one of their worse home records during the course of the recent few games.
Not only are on a 10 home games winless streak but they are nearing the most winless home games which is 15 by the Senators which happened during the 1995-96 season.
Craig Anderson, goal keeper of the Senators, is the new addition to the Senators squad who will look to turn things around from them as he makes his home debut.
The Senators have been one of the most disappointing teams in the National Hockey League.
They maintain one of the worst records losing 13 of their last 15 games. If they continue in doing what they have been, then expected them to finish last not only in the Eastern Conference but in the entire National Hockey League.
Goal keeper Craig Anderson came up with a brilliant performance against the Toronto Maple Leafs this past Saturday as he made 47 saves during the game.
His efforts resulted in the Senators winning only second game in their last 15 games. The Senators won the game 1-0 after a close game in shootout.
"He was in the zone all night," teammate Jason Spezza said talking about goal keeper. "He just looked solid and we're happy to have him."
The Senators have played 59 games in the current season out of which they have won 19 games in regulation time, secured a point in nine games and piled up a total of 47 points.
Panthers, on the other hand, have played 59 games as well out of which they have won 25 games in regulation time, seven games in overtime to score a total of 57 points which still gives them a chance of making it into the play-off cut in the Eastern Conference.
The Panthers have come up with a lot of ups and downs during the course of the season which has hurt their chances of a play-off finish a lot. The Panthers won the game against the strong Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in shootout.
However, this Monday against a much weaker opposition in the New York Islanders they failed to come up with anything and lost the game 5-1 in the end. The Panthers are going through some tough times as they have lost three of their last four games.
"There are no excuses," Coach Pete DeBoer told reporters after Monday's game. "They were the more desperate team. It's frustrating, and there were 20 guys who were bad."
The game would be very interesting with the Senators looking to spoil Panthers hopes of making it into the play-offs and become the stumbling block and win the game in the end.
