However, in their most recent meeting New York Islanders were able to match the Senators and gave them a very tough time. In the end, New York Islander managed to emerge as 5-3 winners of the game that took on the 5th of February 2011.
Michael Grabner of the New York Islanders has caught the eyes of many as they rookie player is getting better and better with each passing game. Michael Grabner has been in superb form recently which is also reflected in his game.
In Islanders most recent game, Grabner came up with quite a performance and scored a hat-trick in the process. The end result was an entertaining and exciting 7-6 overtime win for the Islanders this Sunday. Michael Grabner was named the star player of the
past week on the 13th of February 2011. Grabner has been in hot form recently scoring 15 goals in his last 14 games which has effectively tied him for the most goals scored by a rookie with Logan Couture.
"Grabner's on fire," teammate PA Parenteau said. "You can't really stop him."
Zenon Konopka, one of the responsible players in the New York Islanders who leads the team when he guides his team. Talking about the combined 346 penalty minutes with the Pittsburgh Penguins didn’t particularly make him happy.
"I was not impressed," Konopka said. "I think it's tough for someone in his position and what he's meant to the game on and off the ice to not look at it from both sides.
"We've lost over 350 man games and we're doing everything we can to win games and protect our players. I think it's unfair for a statement like that. He played the game and he understood that emotions get high and escalate. No one wanted things to get to
that point [Friday] but we've got to take care of our own."
New York Islanders have played 56 games so far in the season which has resulted in them winning 20 games in regulation time, 7 games in overtime to score 47 points. However, Senators have scored 44 points despite playing in 56 games too. Out of the total
games they have played, Senators have won 18 games in regulation time, 8 games overtime and scored 44 points.

"It was a big piano off our back, so to speak," forward Nick Foligno said. "Just finally getting that one … It's nice to hold off a team and get that (eventual) win. Hopefully, it brings us more confidence and brings us that kind of oomph that we need.
The game is evenly poised with both teams having equal odds of emerging as winners of the game.
