Ottawa Senators plays host to Philadelphia Flyers in their fourth and final meeting of the season
Ottawa Senators will play host to Philadelphia Flyers this Tuesday at the Scotiabank Place, looking to come up with another upsetting performance for Flyers. This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have taken place between the two teams, Flyers has won two while Senators has won one.
The last game between the two teams took place on the 26th of February which saw Senators dominating the game and winning it comfortably by 4-1 in the end with Erik Condra scoring the winning goal.
The game saw the new addition, Craig Anderson, coming up with a superb performance and making 30 saves during the game.
Flyers is going through some tough times in the season that has seen a decline in its form. Its performance on home ice has been dreadful as it has failed to come up with a regulation time win in the last six games it has played there.
Senators will be hoping to give its fans something to cheer about with the win as it is already out of the playoff’s contention.
Flyers is facing very serious injury problems that has seen some of its star plays not being in the line-ip for the game.
The entire team now looks toward Ville Leino to come up with a difference making performance and guide the team to the Eastern Conference title.
However, the injury problem faced by Flyers saw them losing its last game against New York Rangers by 3-2 after a shootout.
"I'm OK", Leino said. "Obviously, I want to play and I want to be part of a tight battle like that but that's the coach’s decision".
Flyers has played 79 games during the season so far and won 46 games in regulation time, 11 games in overtime while scoring a total of 103 points.
Senators, on the other hand, has played 79 games too but won only 30 games in regulation time, 10 games in overtime and scored 70 points.
Senators’ captain, Daniel Alfredsson, has been out for the second half of the season and the player expressed his desire to be back and play in the next season.
"Going through this year, how tough it's been, you look forward to coming back and going in another direction next year", he told reporters on Monday. "When you have such a long period of layoff as we do until the season starts up, there's a lot of time
to get excited and get ready for next year".
The game would be very exciting considering the fact that Flyers will be looking to win and extend the lead at the top of the Eastern division while Senators will be hoping to win the game and come up with another upset as it has on many occasions recently.
