Ottawa Senators plays host to red hot New Jersey Devils in their fourth and final meeting
Ottawa Senators will be hosting another one of Thursday’s games as they square off against New Jersey Devils.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have already taken place during the course of the season, Devils won the second game by 2-1 while Senators won the rest of the two games.
The most recent game between the two teams saw Senators managing to come up with a decent performance which resulted in them winning the game by 2-1 in the end.
Devils are hopeful of a good performance as they enter the game with a percentage better than 0.500 for the first time during the course of the season.
Devils have been superb during the course of their last 28 games which have seen Devils winning 23 games in regulation time and losing 3 games and securing a point in two games.
Devils, once out of reckoning for the playoffs, have been able to crawl their way back and are only six points behind the final playoff position in the Eastern Conference.
Senators, on the other hand, had piled up some decent results but they were unable to continue it as they have lost their last two consecutive games.
Though they are out of the playoff contention, a win for any team at any stage means a lot and it is no different for Senators.
Ever since goalkeeper, Craig Anderson, has come to Senators from Avalanche, there has been change in the fortunes of Senators.
Senators have won seven of their last 10 games and though it hasn’t helped their cause for the playoffs, still they are looking forward to the next season.
Senators lost their last game against Pittsburgh Penguins by 5-1.
"We didn't support the way we needed to or have been," Senators’ coach, Cory Clouston, said. "We didn't give him the opportunity to make the initial save and clear the rebound. We turned the puck over too many times."We just fell right into their hands and
we didn’t leave Craig with much support."
Senators have played 70 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 25 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime to score a total of 59 points.
On the other hand, Devils have played 69 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 33 games in regulation time and four games in overtime to score a total of 70 points.
Devils are going through some good times where they are bagging goals, stopping goals and winning games which are most important of all.
They were trailing Thrashers by two goals but managed to win the game by 4-2 in the end.
"We're taking it one at a time and we try to win every game," said fellow rookie, Mattias Tedenby, who set up Josefson's goal. "That's what we want to do. That's what we're fighting for every day and if we keep having a little luck like this, we have a chance."
