Ottawa is a racist city.?

I truly believe Ottawa is a racist city. Whenever I go I can feel the white people have some kind of look on me and some just simply avoid any eye contact. I feel kind of depress when I go home and keep asking why I am not white. If I have white skin, blond hair, blue eye, people would treated me differently (in a better way).... :(

Honestly ottawa is a dump of a city i'd rather be in victoria, bc then ottawa ontario where a*****e harper and goons destroy the country day in day out with new taxes. I live in toronto and there is a beautiful mix here. I have always been appreciated by the teachers, the students, and people in general. There are weirdos everywhere and if you drive 30 -50 mins east, west or north of toronto you will find a not-so diverse area. I went to wassaga beach and a little north from there this summer and i enjoyed it veyr much, but there were definitely some stairs. I am not caucasian, I am from South East Asia. People at times assume I was born here even though I came ten years ago. I was looking into Ottawa and what people say about it. Me and my boyfriend might move there after we get married, as he has a job offer and I have a Hbsc and would like to have a government job or my own business. I am sorry you have been treated this way, as people above mentioned, racism exists everywhere, in every nation, every culture and in history and it will continue to exist. People believe they are superior in some ways, and this is not only for the whites, we as minorities are more cautious and reluctant to mix as well, we dont want to loose our culture. I think people need to be proud of their culture, and appreciate another. People also need to understand that under the skin we are all the same d**n thing!

 

I fail to realize why we cant see each others as humans.. its not that hard and when we start thinking along these idea this world will be a much nicer, safer and successful place. I just read and saw the video about Stacy Bond, a black canadian who the police in ottawa arrested on suspicion of selling drugs on streets. She was innocent, but even she wasnt the clip shows all the polic officer (two ladies and 4 men) getting ready to "talk" to her, they pull her out of the cell and then drag her across the floor, throw her against this steel island and knee her and the lady police officer cut off her bra while two other hold her, and keeps on pushing her in the island, and then Stacy proves to be difficult as she is probably insulting her (hey if i was innocent and they were touching my private areas and humiliating me i wouldd o more than swear words).. and the police officers were being douches. Well she stepped down on the lady officer wo started limping and this got Stacy more knees by policemen, she is held down on the floor by 4 officers who then take a scissor and cut off her shirt while shes on the floor. WTH honestly. What do you expect from a world, the law when they fail to look at people as humans, or animals whatever. You cannot be so degratory especially if you have no d**n proof!

 

i am so upset. whether these things can be changed or not, but we can all take initiative and be more responsive, better and respectful towards others. you should never treat anyone like you wouldnt like to be treated.

Yes it is a racist city. They have avery narrow way of seeing people. To the majority Non-white = immigrant. I was born and raised in this country and well...Every winter I get asked if its my first snow...after 33 years of hearing the same effing questions. On top of being a racist city, I would qualify the city has RUDE! As a canadian, do I want my kids be bron and raised here? I'm not to sure. Im already looking at my nieces ( 3 rd generation canadian) and yes they are treated as immigrants. To many there is no such thing as being a non white and canadian. The US sounds pretty nice all of a sudden at least they do a better job acknowledging other who are non white as american.At least, they have no issue having someone non-white in front of them.
