Ottis Gibson all praise for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 at Khulna, but feels that the injury to Tino Best hampered the visitors’ progress on day one.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first on flat batting conditions at Khulna, posting a very competitive total of 387 runs on the board, thanks to a stunning debut-century by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abul-Hasan-c41857.
Edwards, who replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Rampaul-c2233 in the playing-11 for the on-going fixture, proved his selection right and starred with six wickets, which came at the expense of 90 runs.
The coach, who himself was a fast bowler in his playing days, was all praise for the speedster and revealed that the cricketer from Barbados was geared up to get an opportunity to prove his mettle at the ultimate stage of the game.
“He is a quality performer. He was waiting in the side to come back. He proved the sort of bowler that he is,” Gibson said.
Since making his international debut in 2003, Edwards has always promised a lot but struggled throughout his career with different injuries. The fast bowler will now be hoping to play for West Indies consistently and improve his bowling stats.
Edwards’ new-ball partner, Tino Best, injured his hamstring in the first session of the match and could not bowl more in Bangladesh’s first innings. Gibson believes that the pacer’s absence did not help his team’s cause as the islanders found it hard to
get rid of the home team’s late-order batsmen.
“The team was missing Tino Best after lunch, it was a big blow for us,” the coach expressed. “The impact that Tino had on the last Test match, and then to come and miss him after lunch, was a bit of a blow for the guys. Everybody else had to dig a little
bit deeper.”
Best played a huge role in West Indies’ success in the last match as the fast bowler picked up a five-wicket haul on the last day of the match to wrap-up the game for the Caribbean men.
