Ottis Gibson confident Windies will come good against Australia – Cricket News Update

West Indies' coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ottis-Delroy-Gibson-c80358, has expressed confidence in his team, saying they are channeling a fighting spirit which has been missing in the national squad for a long time.
“We've been growing as a group of players for the last 12 months,” he observed.
Once considered among the most powerful and imposing sides on the international stage, the Windies are now struggling to look for a winning combination, despite sporadic wins, such as a Test and ODI victory against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 late last year. The Caribbean
power house is currently residing at number 7 and 8 on the ICC’s Test and ODI team rankings however, their performances against Australia bear testament to their new found form under http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382.
The Windies have failed to win a series against the Aussies since 1995, with the team coming closest to breaking that record during a series in 1998-99 which ended in a draw. Out of the last 18 Tests the two teams have played against each other, the Aussies
have emerged triumphant in each clash, save a single loss and two draws.
The current series marked a turning point after a long drought – the host team  put up a remarkable fight, and deservedly earned a share of the spoils in both the ODIs and T20 series.
Ottis Gibson said the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 had been good for the Windies, and inspired confidence in the team.
“We've just had a fantastic one-day and Twenty20 series against them, one that we look back now and believe we should have won. Everybody's full of confidence,” he observed.
“There's an air of confidence as well when you walk around the streets of the Caribbean at the moment where, two years ago or probably even 12 months ago, the average man in the street was not so enthusiastic about the performances of the team,” Gibson said,
adding that he had last felt this emotion as a child. He pointed out that people had begun to take an interest in the team again, after their performances had become more competitive.
The Windies have a chance to implement their new-found confidence in an upcoming Test series against the Aussies, due to kick off on April 7 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
