Gibson, who was also a former English bowling coach, said that they have failed to find the right balance in order to win a game. The Test series witnessed a major problem at the top, and in the ODIs, the team has relied heavily on
all-rounders, rather than playing specialists.
In contrast, the hosts have been clear in their ideas, playing specialist’s batters, while fielding in four fast bowlers, preferring expertness rather than effectiveness. Such approach has served well for the hosts, with bowlers doing
their job impeccably while the openers playing match-winning tons.
Gibson believes that the hosts have used the home conditions to their advantage.
“They have a pretty clear strategy of playing four fast bowlers – and they are banging the ball hard into the pitch – and a number of our guys have got out playing shots against the short ball,” he said.
