Ottis Gibson supports http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flower-c44362 on the rotational policy - Cricket News Update
The debate over the England’s rotational policy rages on with many cricketing experts expressing their views on the issue. When asked whether the English approach is a dampening one for cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ottis-Delroy-Gibson-c80358 replied,
“Not really”.
Gibson is currently, leading his team on the English tour which began with 3 Test matches. The visitors lost the Test series 2-0, and have shown little improvement in the ODI format, where they trail by a similar margin after losing
the opening two one-dayers.
England have rested http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 for the third and final game, which starts today at Leeds, in bid to give youngsters a chance to experience international cricket, while further allowing the trio a much
needed break, keeping them fresh for a tough upcoming series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
The rotational policy is the brainchild of England team’s coach and director of cricket, Andy Flower. The Windies’ coach backed Flower’s policy and said that the English team has enough depth and pool of talent to rest some players.
"They are the No. 1 team in Test cricket, they have an abundance of talent and good players and they can rest a few players and bring a few in and for them it's all good,” the visiting coach said.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566, along with many cricket pundits have strongly supported the policy, intended towards developing the next generation of stars.
In the meanwhile, the English coach has rubbished the notion that the trio was rested because the final match is a dead rubber given the fact, that the hosts have already clinched the series convincingly. Gibson however, believes that
any team which has such abundance of talent would do the same.
"The English system has been a well-oiled machine for some time now," he said. "It's the envy of the world, let's be honest. They are the top team in the world and they have the luxury of being able to rest players and it's a credit
to them and all the people that work behind the scenes,” concluded the Windies coach.
The final will be played today at Leeds with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 having clinched the series with easy victories at Southampton and The Oval.
