http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ottis-Delroy-Gibson-c80358 wants his team to be aggressive against England – Cricket News Update
Coach of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964.
Strauss has been a prolific run-scorer for England in the longer version of the sport and has led England to number one ranking in Test cricket. However, the left-handed batsman has been out of form in 2012.
The English captain failed to deliver the goods in the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 this year and struggled against the spinners. The left-handed batsman has scored only 264 runs in five Test matches against the two teams from Asia. However,
it is not just Strauss who struggled this year as most of the English batsmen could not make an impression against top-class spin bowling.
Giving the example of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, Gibson expressed that the Aussies are brilliant at softening up the opposition by attacking the skipper but wants his team to be aggressive towards all the English batsmen, as each one of them is a class-act. However, the
West Indies coach understands that Strauss is short of runs and his team has an opportunity to exploit the situation.
"The Aussies are good at targeting the captain, but we need to target every batsman. Strauss is one of them and, because he's at the top of the order, he'll be the first," Gibson said.
West Indies has dropped its leg-spinner, Devendra Bishoo for the series against England, as the visitors are going to attack the home team with their fast bowlers. Gibson, who himself was a fast bowler in his playing days, is confident that his bowling attack
will perform well in the English conditions, which tend to help the seam and swing bowlers.
He added, "I have no doubt our quicks can cause http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 some problems. We've been taking 20 wickets in Test cricket regularly for the last 18 months and the conditions here favour fast and swing bowling."
The series is going to commence from May 17, 2012, with the first Test at Lords. England will surely start the series as favourites as it is still the number one ranked Test team of the world.
