Ottmar Hitzfeld: Bayern Munich are the favourites to win the Bundesliga next season
Former Bayern Munich manager and current Swiss national team coach has insisted that the Bavarian giants are the favourites to win the Bundesliga next season. He claimed that the club has the financial strength and has already
signed some brilliant players in this summer’s transfer window.
Bayern played a disappointing season last time as they finished third on the standings table and marginally made it to the qualifying stages of the UEFA Champions League next season..
Hitzfeld claimed that the Munich outfit is clearly the favourite team to win the league title. He admitted that Borussia Dortmund will put a fight again after an epic campaign last term but was unsure that Bayern would falter again.
He stated that the Munich giants have the financial strength to compete in any competition and with the money they have spent in the past few months; they look to be heading the race.
“No, these are clearly the Bavarians. Like every season. Only because of the unique financial opportunities that the club has, Bayern will do anything to become 2012 champions,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager added that Die Borussen will again have a very good season in the league but defending the title would be a huge task. He insisted that Dortmund can also do well in the UEFA Champions League
but was not confident of them progressing to the knock-out stages as they lack experience.
“Borussia will again play a very good role in the league. In the Champions League one has to wait and see the draw. But the team which has dominated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 can also tear a lot internationally. I do not trust the BVB at least reaching
the second round on,” the 62-year old concluded.
Ottmar Hitzfeld managed both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich from 1991 to 2008 and won seven league titles, two UEFA Champions League trophies and three German Cups with the duo. He was also awarded the German Football Manager
in the year 2008.
