The Hertha Berlin manager admitted that his side’s 1-0 win over Werder Bremen last weekend could be vital in the team’s chances of survival.
The Blue-Whites managed to secure a marginal 1-0 victory over Thomas Schaaf’s Bremen at the Olympiastadion last weekend. Forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikita-Rukavytsya-c27913 scored the only goal of the game as the home side secured all three points. It was
only the team’s third win at home all season.
Rehhagel claimed that his side fought brilliantly to secure the victory against a spirited opposition. He admitted that the team showed that they are determined to stay in the first division and a win would definitely enhance their
chances of survival.
The former Werder Bremen boss admitted that it was great to face the side he managed for so long and insisted that the team now need a series of consistent results in the remaining games of the season to stay in the top division.
“My lads fought. I have not screamed so much as I did today in months - even I fought like a lion. This is a starting point. Now we are back again and we have the hope that we can maybe save ourselves in the end,” he was quoted
as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs was furious with the result and claimed that the home side played negative football so that they may not lose the game. He added that it was a below par display from his
team and admitted that they did not deserve the three points.
“It was a catastrophic game. I don't want to criticise Hertha too much, but they are totally insecure at present and don't have the class at the moment and if we want to reach our goals, we have got to take three points away from
here,” the manager concluded.
Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 will next face FC Koln on Saturday, March 10, at the RheinEnergieStadion, in search of their sixth win of the season. They have already suffered 11 games in this campaign and are currently 15th on the Bundesliga
standings table with 23 points.
