The Hertha Berlin manager has admitted that his team are certainly in danger of being relegated after the 6-0 loss to Bayern Munich this weekend.
The capital club was thrashed 6-0 by Bayern Munich at the Olympiastadion on Saturday, March 17 as Arjen Robben scored a hat-trick. Mario Gomez, Thomas Muller and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425 scored the other three as the visitors secured all three
points from the game. It was Bayern’s third straight win in all competitions as they downed Hoffenheim and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 earlier.
Rehhagel insisted that his side were unable to get hold of the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 and Franck Ribery which is why they faced difficulties in the game. The manager admitted that he had warned the players against the threat the
opposition can cause but they were unable to deal with the quality of the Bavarian giants.
The tactician insisted that the players made far too many mistakes in the course of 90 minutes, referring to the three penalties given in both halves.
“We never got to grips with the two wingers, Robben and Ribery. I warned my players about that beforehand, and then we conceded the first goal very early. Then there was the penalty, and we caved in,” he was quoted as saying in
an interview.
The former manager of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908 national team added that Jupp Heynckes’ side were definitely the better team in the game and thoroughly deserved to win the match. He also expressed the fear of relegation as Berlin slipped to the
17th spot with the loss after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462 won their game against Hamburg.
“We were inferior to our opponents throughout, and Bayern once again showed what an outstanding team they are. We made mistakes in defence which you can't afford to make. We have to put it behind us, and give 100 percent in the
relegation battle we now find ourselves in,” he concluded.
