Question:

Ouch! How do you get rid of ankle blisters?

I have blisters on the back of my ankles from my new shoes, and they hurt like a ***** :(

Right now I just put band-aides on them since they stung whenever my pants or something touched them.

Anyone know how to get rid of them or treat them ?

  1. The blisters are there for a reason. More often then not, blisters are caused by friction. Hence your new shoes are rubbing on the backs of your ankles.

To treat a blister is simple, take away the cause (eg the shoe) and the blister will heal nice and quickly.

However if you want to keep on wearing the shoes then something else needs to be done. Heel blisters are normally caused by rubbing of the top of the heel counter of the shoe on the backs of the heel. This may be because your heel is sitting to low down, or too high up in the heel of the shoe. A good way to help solve this problem is by putting a small raise of about 3-4mm underneath your heel. Cut out some cardboard squares, that should do the trick. Then see if there is as much pressure on your heel. Alternatively if you have a thin innersole in your shoe, remove this. Play around with it for a bit till you find out what works best for you.

Good idea to keep your blister covered with band-aids in the meantime while healing. This will also speed up healing.

    Regards,

    Lloyd
