I've been having pain behind my molars. I just saw today that they are my wisdom teeth starting to poke through. They're only coming in on the bottom though. I guess I'll have to get them pulled. =/

What can I expect at the dentist? Do they put you to sleep? Does it hurt a lot? I heard it does... Thanks!!!!

  1. I'm a mature adult and never had to have one of the bottom w-t pulled. If you have them pulled the discomfort will be the needle to inject local anesthesia.  The discomfort later will be the rawness and bleeding of the gums which is tolerable. No put to sleep.  Some hurt but not bad.

  2. yeah they put you to sleep, you don't feel a thing. they give you a prescription for pain meds after the surgery.

i guess it depends if your insurance covers anthesia... i was put to sleep.

  3. You should have a choice between being put all the way out, IV sedation-where you basically are loopy and not caring what is going on, or just local anesthetic. I'm getting 1 out tomorrow and chose to go the local route. I'll have the other 3 out in a few months. From what I hear, it will be pretty painful after, but they give you good meds if i understand correctly. I'm really not looking forward to being swollen though.

  4. yes they put you to sleep but when you wake up you'll still be numb, but for the next few days, those days will be the WORST days of your ENTIRE life. it hurts SOOOO much!

  5. You should have gotten braces, you wouldnt have had to get them pulled.

No, they do not put you to sleep, they num you. It does hurt quite a bit afterwords.

  6. Expect to go to sleep for a little while and wake up with less teeth.  I guess the pain depends on what you can handle.  I didn't even bother taking any pain pills and was hanging out with my my friends the same day.  I had all four pulled at once and would suggest the same for you as well, unless they're moving your teeth.

  7. Wisdom teeth usually appear between the ages of 16 and 24.More remedies and information regarding your wisdom teeth at http://useinfo-dentalcare.blogspot.com/

  8. i didnt feel a thing, it hurt more having my tooth there.

When my wisdom tooth was growing into my cheek i had to have it removed, the dentist made my gum numb and then broke my tooth in three places and removed each bit. My cheek was swollen but i ate within an hour of gettin it done even though i was still bleeding, but it didnt hurt getting it removed.

  9. Why don't you have them evaluated at your dental office.....it's pointless to speculate until you know.
