Ouch! so painful! (retainer)

Question

when i don't use my retainer.. my teeth HURT really badly! is this supposed to happen? i got my braces off 3 years ago. and no when i don't use it for 2 days, my teeth are so painful! and it's worse in the mornings.. does this mean i need something to hold them in place constantly like invisalign or something??

please help :( this is awfully painful

I'd call your orthodontist and tell them what's going on or maybe even your dentist.  Hopefully it's a temporary thing.  You may have some inflammatory thing going on that some Advil or Aleve taken regularly for a couple of days may help.
