Have you or someone you know ever used a Ouija board?

If so, were you able to contact any ghosts/spirits that spelled out real words or phrases?

I'd love to hear about any board-related stories you may have; it's always been a topic that I am very intersted in. =]

  1. No, I personally haven't. Have you tried using the board blindfolded? If spirits are actually pushing the planchette around, it should still work. This has actually been done and the results were nonsense (see the 1st link below).

What can be concluded?  The most likely explanation is that it is the participants moving the planchette around using the ideomotor effect (see 2nd link). If you really desire to retain a spirit hypothesis instead, then it seems that you must assert an adhoc premise that spirits can only see the board via the participants' eyes, and that opens a whole absurd can of worms (How does a non-physical entitiy require a physical eyeball to see? Does that mean a spirit can't see at all without commandeering somebody's eyeballs? If so then how do they get around?)

  2. i don no but im not taking the risk to play with one

  3. all i know is that i wouldn't want to try and i suggest u don't or ever do it again

    that's some dangerous stuff

  4. Parker Brothers did not invent the Ouija Board. It had already been around for awhile when it was bought by Parker Brothers in 1966 and turned into a commercial success as a board game. Its beginnings lie in the distant past when an earlier version (a tripod device) was used in the ancient ways of Babylon and Greece to contact departed spirits. The tripod became the pointer now used with the Board, which is printed with the alphabet, the numbers 1-9, a 0 (zero), and the words 'Goodbye', 'Yes', and 'No'. There are other boards like this with different names, but with the same history and purpose. The modern version of this game was developed by a man named Planchette, a spiritualist (someone who contacts the dead as part of their religion). The Board was further transformed around the turn of the century under the direction and ownership of two men, Elijah J. Bond and William Fuld. Fuld’s name can be seen on the Ouija Board today. The name Ouija is a combination of the French and German words for 'yes': Oui and Ja. According to Bond and Fuld, the Board suggested its own name. The primary purpose of the board is and always has been to contact disembodied spirits. Contacting the dead is called necromancy, and contacting spirits is spiritism, both strongly condemned by God (Deut. 18:9-12; Lev. 19:31, 20:6; I Sam 28, II Kings 21:6; Is. 8:19, 19:3-4). The Board’s translated name, 'yes, yes', is an ingenious and subtle way to invite spirit contact. Dead people cannot hang around after death; you cannot communicate with a dead person. The practices and techniques of contacting the dead and contacting spirits are used widely in the occult. Although the pointer is often moved intentionally or subconsciously by the players, you are putting yourself in a vulnerable position when using the Board. By 'playing' this 'game', you are showing an interest in spirit contact. If contact is made, it is demons (evil spirits, fallen angels), not the dead, who are responding. If Satan can disguise himself as "an angel of light" (2 Cor. 11:14), then it is not improbable that fallen angels can disguise themselves as the dead. The Ouija Board is not harmless just because it is marketed as a game. Satan, the master of deception and seduction, is good at twisting the truth into lies (Gen. 3:1-6; Jn. 8:44). Satan likes disguises and his lies are often disguised as games. The next time you are tempted to play the Ouija Board as a game, look beyond its disguise and see it for what it really is. Think about this: Just what or who are you trying to contact? God tells us to seek Him instead of the dead (Is. 8:19), and Christ "lives forever to plead with God" on behalf of those who believe Him (Heb. 7:25). Who wants the Ouija Board when you can know the One Who has "complete authority in heaven and on earth!" (Matt.28:18). If you are wondering about Christ, think on His words in John 5:23-24, "He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father , who sent him. I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

  5. First, I agree that Ouija boards are serious business. Every time I see amateurs and psychically undeveloped people using them, I could just smack them upside the head. That said, I did use a Ouija board once and had a very weird experience. Somehow, I managed to gain complete control of the board to the point that I was the one answering the questions. Even when I raised my fingers so that I was just barely touching the plaque, it still moved the way I wanted. Scary enough for you? Well here's the kicker. No one even tried to challenge me.

  6. think better to contact within self only for now....just a comment http://www.soulcast.com/messenger

  7. My friend claire and I was playin with the oujia board one nite. She had these cool candles that were different color flames, blue, pink, green, yellow, etc. We had about 8 lit up all around her room. Well sadly her mom died when she was little, so we tryed contacting her! Nothing happened and we got bored and when we were about to give up claire said, " i guess you dont wanna talk to me mom!" as soon as she said that all the candles went out. It was crazy! i did not sleep at all that nite!

  8. I do not condone the use of a ouija board.  I have never used one nor any other method to summon a spirit.  There are a lot of methods out there, but no board is required.

My thought is this:  I could tell you I look just like my avatar.  You have no proof otherwise, so until you know different, you have to assume that I told you the truth.  When you finally find out, it could be too late.  I could be your local serial killer...you just never know. (I do not look like my avatar, but I am not the local killer for the record)

Same principal needs to be applied to devining spirits.  If you have no physical way to verify who you are dealing with, how do you know what you have called up?

Some things just are not worth the risk.  Please bear it in mind.

  9. Many years ago, I was at a party with friends and we started using a Ouija board.  We didn't get any answers to our questions, the board just spelled out gibberish, but some VERY strange things started happening.

My boyfriend's ballcap kept flying off his head for no apparent reason.  It would literally jump off his head, fly three feet and hit the wall.  Nobody was standing anywhere near him, so it couldn't have been someone else doing it.  We were all watching him and his hands were nowhere near his hat.  There was no logical explanation.

The room got very cold.  We checked the thermostat, we checked for open windows, we checked for any explanation that would make sense.  The heater was actually blowing warm air at the time, and yet the room was freezing.  There was simply no logical explanation for that, either.

I was sitting in a chair and I kept getting pushed out of it.  People thought I was purposely falling out of the chair, but I wasn't.  Someone or something kept shoving me out.  I tried holding onto the chair, but that only resulted in the entire chair falling over, with me in it.  Finally, I gave up and sat on the floor.

When you use a Ouija board, you are giving an open invitation to anything that wants to come through.  This isn't always a good thing.  Some of what comes through is dangerous.  If you're going to use one, you need to know how to protect yourself and those around you.

I believe it's the same when using tarot cards.  When I'm preparing to do a reading, I take the time to ground negative energy, I ask God and my Spirit Guides for protection, and I pull in as much light as I can.  It's important to make sure you're not inviting anything you don't want around you.

I don't know if you're aware of this, but many metaphysical stores sell "Angel Boards."  They're just like a Oija board, but the intent is to invite positive entities.  Personally, I don't think intent is enough to make them safe.  If I were using one, I'd prepare the same way I do with tarot cards.

Don't take it personally when you get snarky comments from non-believers.  They've never had these sorts of experiences and it's hard for them to understand.  Maybe one of these days, they'll learn the truth.

  10. what is ouija???

  11. No.  Have never used an O-board.  My grandmother told me not to go asking for trouble.

  12. I will never doubt the power of a Ouija Board!! These are not "toys" as many think. My experience started out really horrible but in all turned out OK. This is a best of the worst scenario. I was lucky!

My friend and I were joking that neither one of us had pushed the planchette, yet we got "Charlie a little selfish boy". Just as I told her she must have because I was not touching it the planchette flew off the board and hit my friend under her eye, causing her to bleed, 2 hurricane lamps that were lit  went out and the room went icy cold, we tried the door but it wouldn't open.

I finally yelled out "OK Charlie we know it was you!" the door just swung open.

I took the Ouija board right outside and buried it in my backyard, that was the end but Charlie stayed behind, he was menacing but not a problem really he just had to be a part of our life. I had to introduce people who came in the house to him because he would throw a fit and make a mess. He had a few other quirks but all in all he was alright.

  13. me and my friends turned all the liqhts off and were useinq one and i was holding a candle,  2 of  my friends had there hands on the thing that moves, they asked the ouija board a question about when one of then were gonna die. right after they asked the question, i blew out the candle and my other friend slammed the door shut. they both screamed lmfao it was so funny. :PP

  14. An ouija board is not being pushed by spirits.  It's being pushed by you.  Spirits may be influencing your movements, and maybe even posessing you during that time, but it's not them moving your hand with theirs.

  15. From my understanding, Ouija boards, a SEEMINGLY harmless toy, can actually be very dangerous spiritually speaking. Many persons believe the boards to be a "window" for negative spirits ( demons) to enter into a person who is using the board, or into their lives.  Before I knew this I used an ouija board and some very peculiar things happened that defied common explanation and were very frightening to me.

Fortunately, for me and my family, I had a Christian friend who saw the board in my home.  He said it came under the "Occultism and witchcraft" warnings in the Bible.   Trusting his knowledge and opinion I immediately torn it apart and threw it into a wood stove.

I do not think anyone really knows exactly what an Ouija board is, or what it can do. It has been said to be psychic and I think that is part of people's attraction to it.

Most Christians, as well as those of other faiths,  believe that God is in control of their lives and future.  The Bible says NOT to consult anyone (or anything) that claims to predict the future. Many people today spend lots of money trying to do exactly that. I am not at all sure I would believe anyone really has psychic abilities.

King Saul consulted the Witch of Endor, she told him EXACTLY what God wanted her to say. 1 Samuel, chapter 28

To me the board  seemed evil.  To me, it was not worth the risk.  Because of some of the strange things the board had said , I did know I was dealing with something beyond my comprehension and/or control .

I am glad I destroyed it.

  16. I am a 19 year old man from NYC, Brooklyn. I have always been into the paranormal and the occult. One day when I was 14 years old I just learned about Ouija boards and I found out that parker brothers makes them and that I can buy the ouija boards at my local toy store. Well, I eventually saved enough money and bought the Parker brothers Ouija board.

The first few days after using the board several times I was not getting any results (I was using the board alone in the daytime and at night). One day at around 1pm when I was using the ouija board I started yelling out "are there any non-human entities or deities that want to speak to me". I kept on asking this question as well as similar questions for about 45 minute. I finally ended the ouija board session and went to my room and listened to my stereo and just relaxed in my room.

I had this strange feeling that someone or something was watching me and circling me since I stopped using the ouija board. This feeling was really intense and never went away no matter where I went in my house. I decided to go to sleep early that night because I thought that maybe the feeling would go away the next day. I went to bed after watching t.v for about an hour at nine pm. I was feeling more than fear, I just knew someone or something was watching me.

After a few minutes of laying in bed I suddenly became paralyzed and when I closed my eyes (more like blinked, It was like bam here I am) I saw this face, it was a face of what I think was a demon or incubus. Its skin was charcoal black almost everywhere except it had a few white stripes on its face (from one side of his face to another). Its eyes were bright yellow, it had white horns all over its head (where the hair on your head is supposed to be) Its teeth were white, narrow and pointy. The whole experience lasted no more than 5 or 6 seconds (from the paralysis onward). After I opened my eyes I felt much safer than I did that whole day. I knew that whatever it was had left me alone.

For weeks after I was bewildered by the whole incident. I could not explain what had happened and why the details were so precise, I even saw the things pores! The picture remains clear in my memory as if  it had happened yesterday.

I copied and pasted this story from this website

    yourrealghoststories.com

It's my story though I just didn't feel like writing it over.

Someone told me that people who are possessed experience something similar.I just want to say that I have never seen that thing either in my dreams before or after that day and I was fully awake when I was lying in my bed. I  also stopped usiing my ouija board after that day.

after all that but if you insist on using one then choose your words wisely.

  17. My friend and I have always wanted one, but when I asked for one my mom said she wouldn't allow it in the house after what happened to her.

When she was about fifteen, my grandma and my mom moved into this old house...and it had a basement with just ground. No floor just packed dirt. everyday my mom came home from school (while my grandma was still @ work) all the cupboards, and drawers would be opened. If you went down into the basement, you would see HUGE newly dug holes all over the ground. One day my mom decided to get out her Ouija Board.  She played with it, and suddenly it got thrown across the room by something.

  18. Yes these games are powerful but they are nothing compared to that evil, demonic Candy Land game also made by those twisted Parker bros.

  19. When i was a kid my friends and I played with them all the time.My kids have played with them.In my experience they're good for a few laughs.Around Halloween is an especially good time to play with them.I've never known or heard of anyone harmed by one.Except of course here on Y/A.Where tall tales and fanciful supernatural yarns abound.

  20. well it doesn't contact spirits, it contacts demons. so don't use it. i learned that the hear way

  21. Ouija boards are very powerful demonic tools. Using them often result in people getting demon possesed which is not a nice thing.

  22. I actually don't use Ouija boards...In chalk I write the alphabet in a circle on the concrete floor and use an instrument - like a piece of wood to direct the channelled messages...I never had 'scary' experiences, because I know it's my higher consciousness conveying the messages from my spirit guides to me.

*This practise shows how it is the power of the individual, not the object that does it...
