Question:

Ouija boards??

I went to a bon fire last night and my friends were playing with a ouija board. I couldn't tell if it was real or not because I guess they're used to "contact dead spirits". It looked like my friends were moving it so I told them to ask it what day my father died on and it got it exactly right. The day, month and everything. I hadn't told anyone the day my father died. So I'm not sure if they were moving it or if it was fake? Since I'm Catholic I'm forbidden to touch one and I didn't. Are they real? Can you really contact dead spirits? Or were my friends moving it?

  1. The ouija board is just a game that you can buy in most toy stores and department stores, an ordinary piece of wood or plastic or cardboard.  It has no supernatural powers.  The people using it make it work.  It plays on your mind and imagination and your susceptibilities and beliefs and fears.  It can be scary because the imagination is a powerful thing, and can make you believe anything.  And you are not forbidden to touch one because you are Catholic.  Here are a couple of links that discuss ouija boards.

  2. I dont really believe in them, but I still dont see how your friends could have moved it if they didnt know the answer.

  3. I'm Catholic, and my mother always warned me not to play with them.

But by my junior year in high school, I just got really interested in them.  I ended up persuading the teacher in charge of our school newspaper to let me write a story on a local haunted house, where a group of kids and I would use a Ouija board to try to contact the ghosts.

(I bought my Ouija board at Toys R Us.  It glows in the dark.  Very nifty.)

Anyway, it's REALLY easy to make it look like it's moving on its own. Seriously, the lightest touching will send the planchette shooting off toward a letter, and pretty soon everyone's screaming about ghosts.

I have tried to get my Ouija board to work on several occasions, and the ONLY time it did was when I conducted the seance for the newspaper article.

We had to repeat questions over and over, and the planchette moved SO slowly. At first, we made the most trustworthy girls pair up and ask questions, but eventually it would only work when EVERYONE had a finger on it or hovering just above it.

(I had the whole thing videotaped, and occasionally we'd all claim we weren't even touching it when it moved -- the footage is sketchy, but the genuine reactions of the students involved backs this up.)  Although, sometimes it spelled certain words wrong, which makes me think one of the a**-hole boys was s******g with it.

But the cool part was, during the seance, which was held in this parlor-type room in the building, we heard a gasp from out in the hall -- and no one was out there!

Then, when we were all finished, and people were getting up to go to the bathroom or whatever, the planchette jerked about four inches all by itself. Myself and two other students witnessed this, as well as our chaperone.

This is the single most persuasive thing I have ever experienced that suggests to me that Ouija boards do have the potential to channel spirits.

I think that this happens because we, as spiritual beings, allow ourselves to submit energy toward the Ouija board, which somehow gives it power. I don't think a ghost moved the planchette that night -- I think that, after all of us having poured so much psychic energy into that Ouija board for three hours, the planchette was simply discharging some of that built up current.

And because I think Ouija boards have whatever power you choose to let them have, when people view them as devices of evil, I think the Ouija boards potentially can become dangerous.

However, excepting that one seance for the newspaper article, whenever I have ever used a Ouija board, I have said the Lord's Prayer or worn a rosary. The Ouija board NEVER works if I'm wearing a rosary.

So, really, for the most part, I think Ouija boards are bogus.  But anything can become an instrument for the devil, if you think about it, and the fact that those kids could relate the exact time of your father's death backs up this idea.

  4. don't you see? they were not moving it! they were contacting with spirits and satan!

  5. its a board game made by a toy company no

  6. They contact demons... not dead spirits, and the demons know things... I think somewhere in the bible they also mention neutral spirits that can also predict the future but I'm not sure.... The past present and future is already written in time... We are simply living out a segment in a wall. Temporal time itself is an invention.

  7. i believe in them.

Ive done it atleast 20 times.

    It doesnt contact just demonds!!!!!!

I hate wen people are so mean about them..

Yes they really are real... IN MY OPINION!!!

    lol

    and p.s.
