Ouija boards safe? Or are they dangerous!?

My mom wont let me play with one... some say there just toys, others say they have demons and evil ghost's and devil's that answer your questions. I need answers by people who have or had experience with ouija boards before, please put lots and lots of story's and details please! Thanks =]

I've played with Ouija boards before, but I just don't have a story to tell. Nothing happened. One time it seemed to be spelling something, but then the "ghost" misspelled the word and we figured out that it was my sister s******g around.

You aren't missing anything. There are "rituals" and silly things you can do late at night with your girlfriends that are more funny. For instance, you could make yourself a set of ESP testing cards and see who has the strongest "gift."

They are just a toy.  Here's a test; have everyone do it blindfolded, with two people not touching the board watching.  They won't spell ANYTHING.  Anyone who says otherwise is delusional or dishonest.  Your mom must be some kind of religious nut.

I played with one as a small child, but did not understand the power or consequences. My step-father copied one, toyed with it, and tried to burn it. On a windless day, he had to to hold it in the fire to get rid of it.

I read one briefly that was a case study of ouija possessions.

Regarding the other issue, Your mother said no, therefore it is a mute question.  You will find life MUCH easier if you honor your mother and father.

I have a Quija board and nothing weird has ever happened with me. There were times where I would be by myself and then swear that the thing was moving on its own, but then realized I was being stupid because my mind was playing tricks on me. It was my fingers moving it ever so slowly that made it appear to be moving on its own.

I've heard stories too though from this kid I know. His father won't let him play it either because he says he had an experience with it where the thing (whatever it's called... the thing you move over the board) flew out of his hand and hit the wall out of nowhere! I don't know if I believe this story, but it was something I heard. Weird and scary if it is true though, that's for sure lol.

I have never used one, because i have never needed to, i can project myself enough to commune with them by myself.

But anywho, the board is like calling a random telephone number. you don't know if the person will be nice, mean, threatening or enduring.

So to answer your question yes its safe, but it can be scary.

When I was little my babysitter and I played with one. When she asked a question, one of her stuffed animals that was sitting on a shelf across the room, suddenly flew at her and smacked her on the face. She wasn't hurt of course, but yes. I think ouija boards are dangerous, when not taken the proper precautions!

just like any other board game. The illusion is that a person is asking

a question and the board (or supernatural agency) is answering. Now,

it would be dangerous if you really believed that there were demons or

spirits running the board, then you would be succumbing to superstition

They are absolutely not safe. Even if people who "play" with them don't have anything visably happen just involving yourself with them at all is an invitation to demonic influence. You may not relate a car accident or other awful thing a while later with the Ouji board but they can very well be related. It's not something to mess with.

Well my parents think they're just a joke...but Idk it's all really what you can believe..I mean I've had friends play with them before and nothing happened...and sometimes things do happen, but u never know that they can't be a conicidence...i mean if someone said you have to jump off a cliff to get good luck...would u do it..??..,it's sorta the same situation...it really depeneds on every person ..if u belive in demons and ghost then maybe u will be haunted. but if u don't then u don't...u can say it works, or it may not...again it's on every person..i mean everyone has they're own opinion..so if u ask someone it's really just getting more ideas into ur head..but when it really comes down to it it's ur choice, to use it or not...and plus ur asking people u don't even know..  so just becareful..I would just listen to ur mom,..i mean life is suppose to keep everyone guessing about their future...

I think the board sometimes responds to your subconscious thoughts and this scares some people. Ouija boards are interesting and harmless. Pay no attention to the people who think anything they don't understand is possessed by demons. LOL

The ouija boards have always been called dangerous devices,but in modern science through a witch,is that if you approach the board on a positive energy force field,than you will get positive results.but as usual,if you approach it with negativity,than negativity you will get.ouija boards have been used by alot of wiccans and witches for the use of divination for their solitary practises.some use it to contact a loved one,but more less they use it for divination purposes.if you are thinking about using the ouija board,please,on one condition,approach the board with care.and please respect it.it is not a toy.it is serious.

The only danger that will come from playing with a Ouija Board is if you throw the plastic piece at someone, beat them with the board, or get a paper cut from the cardboard. They are as life-threatening as a box of Captain Crunch.

The company also sells Monopoly, you really think they would be able to sell this product without getting sued if it really had the ability to harm people? They are being sold because there is no harm.

The Ouija Board is associated with evil due to the fact that it was a tool used in divination. The Bible clearly states that to perform divination, is wrong:

"When you come into the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you, you shall not learn to imitate the abominations of the peoples there. Let there not be found among you anyone who immolates his son or daughter in the fire, nor a fortune-teller, soothsayer, charmer, diviner, or caster of spells, nor one who consults ghosts and spirits or seeks oracles from the dead. Overall, there is no danger in the Ouija Board, unless you still believe in a deity in such an age. As well as the supposed evidence of the supernatural abilities that come along with a Ouija Board - it is called the Ideomotor Effect.

It depends on if you get in touch with spirits or not, also if they are good or bad spirits. It isn't a toy its a tool for calling on the spirits.

A friend of mine used one and it spelt out her name. Then after that it followed her round and moved things around the house!!

Ouija boards are dangerous and stupid. They are the spiritual equivalent of giving a loaded gun to a child, and a particularly stupid child at that.

You will probably hear lots of stories of strange things happening to people that have been messing with a ouija board - scary noises, objects moving, things breaking etc. I defy you to find anyone who will tell you that their ouija board told them anything useful or did anything positive - such as cleaning the house.

Ask yourself this - is that something you want in your life? Is it worth the risk?

There is only one reason that anyone uses a ouija board - to give themselves a little cheap little childish scare. People who practice magick as part of their faith  *should* (I hope) have enough sense to leave well alone. Ouija boards are manufactured by cynical corporations who know that people are curious, fond of a good scare and idiotic enough to part with money for the privilege.

Why would anyone want to invite an unknown spirit into their house? It's like painting a target on your head and screaming "come and get me!".

your mom is right.. believe it or not those are very dangerous. it's a door to h**l basically.  think of it like crank calling someone and you don't know who your gonna get on the other line. I definitely have thought about buying one at Toy's R' Us but there can be serious consequences with that.  Although maybe once if your careful won't hurt.

Ouija boards are quite safe.  I have used a ouija board and nothing happened.  The ouija board is just a game that you can buy in most toy stores and department stores, an ordinary piece of wood or plastic or cardboard.  It is meant for two or more players so it will not work very well if you try to use it alone.  It has no supernatural powers.  The people using the ouija board make it work through ideomotor movement.  It plays on your mind and imagination and your susceptibilities and beliefs and fears.  It can be scary because the imagination is a powerful thing, and can make you believe just about anything.  Here are a couple of links that discuss ouija boards and how to use them.

Ouija boards are honestly just toys.  My friend had one that she bought from Toys R Us that was glow in the dark.

But just because they're toys doesn't mean you should use them to tempt evil spirits, because those are real.  Evil spirits are just as real as angels and you shouldn't welcome them into your life because they'll bring fear and doubt to those who mess with them.

So in a way, your mom is right.  The only use for a ouija board is bad things so it's pointless to have one or play with it.  I never believed in witch craft or demons until I played with one.  Now I realize how serious it is.

safe...  demons live in our souls, not in ouija boards.  Seriously, If there is a spirit that you want to contact, try looking up how to organize a seance.  Ouija boards are just a way to have a good scare between friends.  It seems mystical, but really it's just the atmosphere that you provide that stirs excitement.  With all the nervous energy around and everyone concentrating on weird noises and such, you're bound to have someone freak out or hear something weird or think they see or feel something.  Haven't you ever layed in bed at night thinking that there's something in the room with you and swear that you see something out of the corner of your eye?  It's the same thing.  I think that the church and christians in general have given the ouija board a bad name because of the way it is marketed (speaking to ghosts) and not actually what it does (nothing).  It's like why some people won't let their kids celebrate halloween (because they think it's a pagan holiday and has to do with demons).

Your mom is right not to allow you to have one.  The witchboard is real and very dangerous.  You think it is a game when it is really a doorway to evil.  The demon(s) you contact will appear very friendly and even helpful and fun at the very beginning.  That is so that you will continue to use it.  Each use gives the demon more power and a better entry into this world as your continued use constitutes an invitation.  Once you have invited it in it is very very difficult to get rid of the demon and it will ruin your life and harm you if it can.  The stories you hear are real and this thing is far far far from being a toy for children.  Do not go near one and do not have one in your house

As a kid my sisters and I played with one, us and all of our friends. I'm pretty certain that it was one of us spelling out words, not a demon. I know I did it sometimes, lol!! As I got older my sister became a Jehova's witness and I found the ouija board snapped in half and hidden under the couch cushions. She said it wasn't her, but she was the one who thought it was evil!

I haven't played with one since, but I now belive that it can be used for bad evil things if that is what you choose to use it for. I'm sure you and your friends would be fine....but listen to your mother, lol!

The Ouija board is not something to mess around with, think of it like this youre contacting someone thats no longer here but who are you going to get to come through, its like playing with fire. There is so much bad energy and bad spirits the chnaces are that yah u mught get something good but mostly something bad. don't mess with those things. They're not toys. I made that mistake when I was a teen and I'll never do it again. It's a gateway for demons and every other thing you can think of. You'll end up letting them into your house.
