he is a 12 month old shepherd/boxer mix. he lost his lower right canine tooth. his newly exposed gum seemed a bit sensitive to him at first, and he wasn't eating nearly as much nearly as often. now hes eating a bit more food a bit more frequently- with the sensitivity declining, but still not his norm. we noticed the tooth missing on 08/02/08, "ruff"ly one week ago. he likes to chew on bones/toys/things. a vet check is coming in a week, just to be safe. thank you for your comments, they are much appreciated!

  2. At 12 months you can probably expect that his tooth won't grow back, but I honestly can't say. whatever the case may be, whether it grows back or not, things should return to normal pretty soon (including his eating habits). My dog lost one of her upper canines when she was hit by a car at around 14 months old and she experienced some sensitivity with eating her food at first, but once everything had healed, which took her about 2 weeks, she was her usual self again.

Taking him to the vet is still probably a good idea, always better safe than sorry.

I wish you and your dog the best of luck and hope he's feeling better soon :)
