  1. constant vomiting.. or diahrhea. fever goes up past 104 degrees. if she breaks out in hives or unknow rash.

  2. ok what you could try to do is give her a lukewarm bath (comfy temp but wont make her have a fever) to rid her of the puke smell. then keep her comfy. if you want her in her own room then put clean sheets on the bed because they will keep her cool and wash her other ones. bring her a bowl or a trashcan or sorts so she dosent have to go back and forth to the bathroom. to control nausea you can try putting a wet washcloth on her head and on the back of her neck. make sure the cloth is wetted in cold water. keep her entertained and comfy. by throwing up a lot she will become dehydrated quickly if you dont get fluids in her. try to get her to drink gatoraid, juice, or even a bit of ice cream! if shes hungry try saltine crackers or broth. make sure she rests and if she develops a fever, call your pediatritian. hope she feels better!

  3. The ER is probably not necessary. The only time I brought my son to the ER was when he was vomiting blood or when he had a seizure for the first time. When you have a child with a fever and no other symptoms they'll make you wait for HOURS!!!! I would monitor her through the night. Keep giving her the tylenol only and if she's still really bad in the morning bring her to her pediatrician. These kinds of bugs sometimes just need to work themselves out of the body and there is nothing they can really do. Just make sure you keep her well hydrated!!! Lots of water and if you're concerned give her some Pedialyte or Gatorade to hydrate her.

  4. Something that I learned the hard way is that you shouldnt give a child tylenol unless thier temp gets over 100 degrees.  Even if she starts to get a little fever (which she currently doesnt have) still dont give it to her until that point.  Reason is that fevers help fight infection and if you are getting rid of every little fever, you are cutting back her bodies ability to fight it off.  Also, with tummy bugs you should keep children on the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast.  Dont let her eat for 30 minutes after she throws up and then when you do give her food only give it a little at a time.  And of course give her pedialyte.  I dont think that the ER would be necessary, but obviously any time you feel uneasy about your childs health you could take her to the ER no matter how bad it is.

  5. I don't usually recommend the ER for vomiting unless she hasn't been able to keep fluids down for more than four hours or she's throwing up what looks like coffee grounds (which can be blood in the vomit)... especially if there's no fever, which your daughter evidently doesn't have.

I'd actually stop with the medications -- Tylenol is acidic and Tums is an antacid, so they're working against each other anyway if you administered them that closely together -- and instead offer clear fluids liberally and encourage her to rest. If she keeps the liquids down, offer her some yogurt; the acidophilus in it helps fight off gastrointestinal infection.

"What ever has been going around" is rarely dangerous and doesn't often last longer than a day or two. What's more, the ER doesn't typically offer much in situations like this besides IV fluids in case of dehydration and a sizable bill for their time... :)

All that said, if her condition takes a sudden turn for the worse, don't hesitate to take her in. Hope your daughter feel better soon!
