He is in a very good preschool daycare where they have class room activities everyday. Could something be wrong with his vision? Could he be color blind?

  1. Try not to worry, he is advanced in some areas and needs time to assimilate knowledge. Have a colour table at home, gather say some blue things and put them on a low table, talk about them and then ask him to find something the same colour to add to the table. If he can't help him and give lots of praise. keep the same colour for a week and then change it even if you feel he hasn't grasped it thatway it stays fresh and fun. Always tell him the colour of his clothes. Use coloured soap at bath times and let him choose. Don't make a fuss if he brings blue and says red just correct him in a materof fact way. He will soon be driving you potty discussing the colour of everything.

  2. My son is almost 3 and just now has mastered colors, when he already knew the above-mentioned items you listed a long time ago. I would not worry about it. Just keep practicing with him. Get several items of the same color and show them while reminding him of the color. Every thing around us is a teaching/learning opportunity. I would not be too quick yet to think something is "wrong". Just keep working with him and practicing!

  3. My child was like this as well and I really worried about her.  I think she was just really stubborn or just got really confused by colors and wouldn't learn them, either way she finally did learn them.  I would focus on just one color a week or however long it took for her to remember and learn that color.  For example, green.  Every tree or grass or whatever that was green I would say "look at that green so and so".  After a while I would say the statement and then ask her what color is was.  Even this was frustrating at times but finally she came around and was really proud of herself.

You could call an eye doctor or even call and speak with your child's regular doctor and see what he/she suggests or thinks there may be real reasons to be concerned.  Speak with the teacher and daycare provider and see if they see this problem when he is with them, the same way you so at home.

  4. That's most likely the reason, color-blindness. Better see an eye specialist. Don't worry though, color-blindness has nothing to do with his health. Color-blindness actually can be advantageous sometimes.

  5. could be a eye doctor can tell you this, my nephew was the same way but it ended up with him just being subborn.
