We have talked to him over and over about taking responsibility for his actions. At school he was caught tapping on a window by his teacher. He told him he wasn't. The teacher explained to him that he saw him. My son insisted he didn't do it. Another example: his class all turned in their library books in the a.m. When they went to the library in the p.m., he wasn't allowed to check out a book because his wasn't turned in. He insisted that he had turned it in. The librarian looked on the shelf and behind the desk, it wasn't there. Again, he insisted he turned it in. The teacher went back to the room with him where they found the book in his desk. He still insisted that he turned it in going on to say that someone took his book out of the bin and put it back in his desk. The teacher asked him why he thinks anyone would do that. He said to get him in trouble. The other night, he came into our bedroom saying he saw a man in our house and went on to describe him. There was no man. Help!

  1. hello, if he wasn't prone to lying before there could be some underlying issue . is he happy at school? maybe he's looking for attention and sees getting into what can only be described as trivial trouble a way of being noticed. his imagination certainly has to be praised if he was able to describe a man he never saw. somethings not right and as much as the teachers idea works, in your case i wonder if theres more to it than simply lying?im speaking as a mum of a ten year old who has his moments when it comes to thr truth!!!your son doesnt seem to be able to seperate reality from fantasy.its as if he truly believes what he's saying and is amazed when it turns out he's wrong.id spend time talking to him about whats real and whas not. tell him the story about the boy who cried wolf and maybe ask your doctor what he thinks.probably nothing wrong but no harm in asking. good luck, id like to hear how things work out for you. xx
