Our Conor stays unbeaten after landing the Bar One Racing Juvenile 3-Y-O Hurdle
The three-year-old bay gelding, Our Conor, won the Grade 3 Bar One Racing Juvenile 3-Y-O Hurdle on 2nd December, 2012 at Fairyhouse race course over two miles. The favourite entry kept track of the leaders when racing in the second position in the field of five, but just when the fourth out of the ten hurdles was approaching, the Irish bay gelding took the lead.
Trying his best to contest the leadership was, Brog Deas, but he too had to give in after two more flights went down. Just when Jeremy’s bay gelding drew clear, Stocktons Wing picked up the pace and made a failing attempt to shoulder the leader which was killed by the two and a half lengths by which the Dessie Hughes trained landed the race.
Stocktons Wing settled as the runner-up while the third position was invaded by, South South West.
Cooper said of the 8-11 favourite: "He has a good technique - I was very impressed with him. He's going in the right direction."
Hughes added: "He's a good leaper and has a good turn of foot. He ran on better ground on the Flat and that was no bother to him. He may go to Leopardstown at Christmas - there's no reason why he wouldn't. He's a natural."
When asked whether Our Conor could be a Triumph Hurdle horse, Hughes said: "I think you'd have to say he is."
The race turned out to be a back-to-back success for the three-year-old out of, Flamands. Owned by Man About Town Syndicate, he won the Follow Navan Racecourse Facebook 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle on 11th November, 2012 at Navan over two miles.
The favourite winner raced in partnership with jockey, Bryan Cooper, and defeated Casual Creeper by staggering 8 ½ lengths.
Unbeaten in the 2012 campaign and specifically the very recent success has got him on the priority list of the Ladbrokes World Hurdle betting.
For the winning jockey, the joy continued as he also raced Shark Hanlon’s Murchu to the winner’s enclosure in the Give Us A Hand.
Keeping up with the determined form will soon gift the connections of Our Conor with a hat-trick through a graded win.
