Our Father favourite for Pertemps Final (Handicap Hurdle) (Listed Race)
Our Father has been rated as favourite for the Pertemps Final (Handicap Hurdle) (Listed Race) at Cheltenham in England on Thursday, March 15, 2012. A cash prize of £39,865 will be awarded to the winning horse.
The class-1 race will start at 2:05 GMT and it will test the stamina of the runners, as the distance to cover is three miles.
A total of 24 entries have been confirmed for the race and their names are: Our Father, Buena Vista, Sonofvic, Catch Me, Sergent Guib´s, Thehillofuisneach, Barwell Bridge, Bellflower Boy, Prince Erik, Cantlow, Cape Tribulation, Restless Harry, Ashkazar,
Rick, Sir Kezbaah, Pineau De Re, Across The Bay, Houblon Des Obeaux, Kayf Aramis, Palace Jester, Pettifour, Reindeer Dippin, Russian War and Scotsbrook Cloud.
The bookmakers have shown complete confidence in the abilities of Our Father, who has displayed excellent skills since making debut in the sport. He is in very good rhythm at the moment and it will be difficult for the other runners to match him.
David Pipe’s trainee has entered four hurdles in his career until now and has been successful in a couple of them. Even though he has been unable to maintain a 100 percent winning record, he has never finished out of the top two.
The six-year-old gelding was favourite during his most recent appearance and lived up to the expectations of everyone, as he ended up on top comfortably. He will have the confidence of repeating such a strong show once again.
Today’s favourite runner will be partnered by veteran jockey, Timmy Murphy, who has earned 112 victories over hurdles.
Another one of David Pipe’s runners, Buena Vista, has got decent chances of winning today. He is a seasoned runner, as he has participated in 38 races over hurdles. However, his strike rate is not much impressive, as he has only been able to win six of such
events.
Despite that, the bookmakers are expecting a special effort from the 11-year-old gelding, who has not been in good form over the past few months.
Buena Vista will be ridden by young jockey, Tom Bellamy, who has just won a single race over hurdles.
The punters will be placing maximum number of bets in favour of Our Father, who looks quite strong at the moment. However, Sonofvic, Catch Me and Sergent Guib´s might spring up a surprise at the end of the day.
