Our LG front load washer blew a main bearing just after warranty was over--5 years. Unusual??

Question

The front load washer started to howl in the spin dry cycle.

On having it checked out, it was determined that the main bearing was gone--just over 5 years and just out of warranty.

$450 to repair.

Why do you think the warranty is as long as it is?

Also, $450 to replace a bearing?  You got ripped off.

Not for LG, they over advertise their products , like their Microwave oven , which is no more than a Gold Star in a LG box.
