Our Nana Rose relishing to win Paddy Smyth Memorial Apprentice Handicap
The Patrick Martin trained bay mare, Our Nana Rose, will capitalise well on the winning impetus produced by her two consecutive defeats of the first half of the calendar month in an effort to complete her maiden hat-trick by winning the Paddy Smyth Memorial
Apprentice Handicap that is going to be held at Ballinrobe racecourse on Monday, July 23.
In the €5,175 Irish contest, the six-year-old veteran runner will face 15 rivals on the good track of 1 mile and 6 furlongs. Her last experience with a good ground had been extremely pleasant; thus, she is geared up to make another big show today in the
similar race conditions.
The maverick mare marvellously finished first against a dozen of competitors in the O’Neills Sports Club Challenge Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown on July 7. That was indeed an outstanding performance.
She moved ahead to win the 16-runner event of the Guinness Handicap Hurdle at Sligo on July 15. She was 5-1 joint favourite for that event.
These two back-to-back triumphs have boosted up the mare’s morale greatly along with making her felt in the eyes of the bookmakers.
As a whole, the brilliant daughter of Viking Ruler out of Rising Lady has won 6 of her total 38 starts. Today, she will run under Conor Hoban whose past experience with the mare had not been good enough, but he seems to be confident to show his utmost riding
stamina in the coming contest.
In this situation, Our Nana Rose has up to 95 percent chances to thrive provided she manages to contain Massyoun who is desperately looking to break his maiden. The James Leavy trained grey gelding picked up immense confidence by finishing as a runner-up
in the Leopardstown Club Members Handicap on July 12.
Prior to this, the son of Rainbow Quest out of Massatixa had gained a third in the Follow Naas Racecourse On Facebook Apprentice Handicap on July 11.
It seems that the momentous horse will be able to give somewhat tough time to Our Nana Rose. Thus, a neck-to-neck clash is expected today. Let us see who carries the day.
