  1. Yes, since USA has more medals in all, and China has more GM's!

  2. Firstly, its far from over and secondly, don't forget China's population is over a billion people while ours is 300 million. They've got a lot more human resources than we do. That same argument has been used by Canadian, Australian and British nationals in explaining their countries medal count.

  3. Most other countries rank gold medals . America will save face in these games by being recognised as the cleanest, drug-free team to leave US shores.

  4. Yeah, other countries only count gold, lame.

So if China has 50 Gold and no silver or bronze, and the U.S. has 49 Gold and 60 silver and bronze, China would still win.

Flawed logic but that's the way it is.

  5. no because the rest of the world counts gold only

  6. The rest of the world counts GOLD medal first. The country that has the most gold medals have the highest ranking.

  7. It doesn't matter because when the Olympics are over the USA will be #1 in gold medals and overall medals.

  8. medal rankings should be calculated the way they have always been:

    5 pts. for gold

    3 pts. for silver

    1 pt    for bronze

that gives a fairer/weighted distribution which preserves the idea that gold is worth the most, then silver, and then bronze.

  9. I don't think America is losing nearly as much face as China is by misleading the world every step of the way...

China gets their medals by cheating - didn't you see Cheng Fei fall completely on her knees during her landing, and still beat out Sacramone for a bronze medal???  Rediculous.

Look at China's history:  314 medals total from 1900 - 2006, then suddenly they have 80 metals this year.  By the end of this Olympics, then will have won over 1/4 of all their Olympic medals IN HISTORY in this one Olympics, which just happens to be held in their country.

Don't tell me this is just "China rising."  China was supposedly rising in 2004 and 2006, just the same.  Look closely at the medals that China has won, and you will see that they are virtually ALL at sports with subjectve scoring - with the exception of badminton and ping-pong.  BADMINTON!!! Are you kidding me?  This is as much an Olympic sport as jacks.  Seriously.

Not to mention the fake fireworks at the opening ceremony ("due to fire hazards").  It's the Olympics, people, not a George Lucas production...you don't get to fake it).

And we won't even get into the fact that the Chinese gymnists are underage.  Why wouldn't they be?

  10. Ok first off I am as American as one, and I wont to win as many gold's as possible. But the true meaning of the games is about the world coming together. Oh and by the way these game will be remembered for one thing only and that will be Michael Phelps. And as far as I know he is an American.
