Our Rent-A-Center furniture is a POS.. what will happen?

Me and my boyfriend made the horrible mistake of going to RAC to get a couch and a lounge chair to go with it. They are really bad quality. The couch already makes a CRACKING noise when you sit on it, after only a little over a week. Ugh. Should have done a little research on the company first. They are wayyy overpriced. I thought we were paying for good quality but it's a huge piece of monkey trash trying to rip us off. If we want to return this, what will happen? Will it mess up our credit? Will we have to keep paying them more? Or will they just take it back, and that's that, no more payments?

thx.

  1. did you sign a contract?

  2. Call them and ask these questions as though you're a prospective new customer and see what they say. I don't think they do a credit check, and  unless you signed a contract, I think you can return it at any time. But check with them and see what they say.

All of those furniture-rental outfits are terrible ripoffs. They prey on people whose financial and credit situations don't enable them to acquire furniture by conventional means, charging outrageous rental fees that end up being several times the cost of the furniture.

You'd be much better off finding second-hand furniture at a thrift store or on craigslist, and putting aside what would be your weekly rental payments until you have enough to buy new furniture.
