Hey,

On the internet you can see pictures/ videos of soldiers in Iraq who are having fun messing about etc. And i was just wondering do they have alot of time to do that or is it just some days and others they are fighting alot?

I am not against our british soldiers at all, i respect them. its just my uncle is going into the army and i wanted to know what he would be doing.

Thanks

  1. Being deployed can be summed up as intense boredom interrupted briefly by the worst terror in your life.  A lot of the time the soldiers aren't fighting and are just passing time and doing simple tasks to keep everything running smooth.  Also going on patrols probably if he is going into the Army.  It also depends on his specialty or what the make him do, if he's infantry or something like that he's going to see way more of the fighting.

  2. All war and no play make johnny a dead man.

  3. Will they be messing around all the time?

No, the Army is serious and they are working most of the time.

Will they be fighting most of the time?

Again, no.  Most of the time they just spend their days patroling or doing everyday needs like making food, cleaning, and making the place secure.  It depends on where he is stationed how much of what he will do, but no soldier is truly fighting all the time in recent wars, not the way they are now.
