I need to know what his unique style is, and what it does to make the play special.

  1. The whole play is pantomimed. No props. He was the first to do that.

  2. A big thing is how he has the Stage Manager character who is the narrator and talks to the audience--it is unusual for a character to "break the fourth wall" like this.  Check out Wikipedia for some good general info on the play; basically the play is really self-conscious in that you always know it's a play (you don't get lost in the "realism" of the storytelling).
