The stage manager says almost everyone is now asleep in Grover’s Corners. He winds his watch. Eleven o’clock. He tells the audience to get a good night’s sleep. . and then it says people cried and stuff?

  1. Well, I cried at that one scene in Cool Runnings where the Jamaicans cross the finish line....You never can tell what's going to make people cry.

I think this is one of those circumstances where what's written on the page or performed on the stage either resonates with your own life experience...or it doesn't.

I had a friend in grad school who totally doesn't get what Catcher in the Rye is all about. All I could tell her is that it's about that time in your life where you have to see how close you're going to come to the edge of the cliff before you turn and walk away from it. I know people that have come much closer than I ever have or wanted to. If you've never had a moment in your life like that, though, you may not get it now, and you may never get it.
