The chlorine level is ok, the pH is low. I have stirred it up and emptied 1/3 of the water, but there are still particles. What are they? How do I get rid of them?

  1. Sound like algae. We use an alga-side chemical when we see white particles on the surface. After use, the particles settle to the bottom and we must vacuum to remove the settled algae from the bottom of the pool. You will have to backwash and vacuum again and backwash again to get the algae growth out completely. We try to add alga-side chemical (buy the stronger one, not the weak stuff) weekly to avoid this. Consider running your pool pump extra (more) when the weather is 90 degrees for a few days in a row to keep the algae from forming in the first place. Good Luck!

  2. I was told by my pool company that your ph should be on the higher side for your algicide to work....and then I would invest in a stronger algicide. Maybe a 40% proof, and if your see white particles, ( dead algea) vaccum more and use a clarifier and oxidizer.
